I had a new Con OFE installed by a very reputable dealer and am having trouble with it chattering at engagement. If I put any more gas to it than would be required to keep my current speed, it will chatter. In other words, If I'm trying to accelerate out of a shift it will likely chatter as I let the pedal out. It is possible to drive the truck without this happening but there is almost zero room for error. I don't like to have to concentrate that hard just to drive to the store.

It seems to be worse when making a right or left turn. I also just changed my fluid in my differential. Is it possible that the clutches in the differential are to blame or is it more likely just the nature of the clutch? I have about a thousand miles on it since the operation and have noticed no improvement due to brake in... . yet.

What da ya think? AC

Mine will only chatter when taking off in 2nd gear, and it is hardly noticable. I try to start out in first as much as possible, unless I'm drag racing;) ... Doug

A/C I replaced my oem clutch at 12 k miles because my truck had tooooo much nuts and he is a stud... ... ... ... . anywho I did the work myself and decided that there was no need to resurface the flywheel... ... ... ..... wrong answer, I had a bit of chatter and it is still there a bit after 30k miles so I dont think your chatter will work itself out you really need to quiz up the shop that installed it about what they did to your flywheel and I am guessing that they did nothing so if that is the case you really need to have them do it over. IMHO

I think I might have fixed it. I called the shop that put it in for me and they told me to put two bottles of friction modifier in my differential. I did that and it seems like that was the cause of all my chattering problems. I'm not totally convinced yet as I only took a quick run into town and back but it seems like it. I even tried to make it shudder and chatter and I could only get the faintest bit of a symptom and that might have been a bump in the road. I wonder now if my LS diff will function right. I guess I'll find out this winter.
