How many have read Rand's "Atlas Shrugged"?

Who's tougher?

Being a retired State patrol officer, my retired commision card allows me to cary a conceiled (sp) weapon. The only time I carry is if my wife & I are traveling and camping. I dont worry about which state I'm in. If you need it, use it and worry about the legality of it in court while you are alive and the crook is dead.

Life is short. Remember "you are in this world for a good time- not a long time"

Just renewed permit last Friday for the 3rd time. Never needed it yet, but its ready and loaded. I agree with David, "I would rather be judged by twelve, than carried by six"

Had my CCP about 4 years. Never had to pull a gun in self defense, hope I never do. My wife has had her CCP about 7 years. Never will forget the time acouple deputy's at a gunshow wanted to see her pistol, she is 5' 2' @ 110 and pulls a Glock 21 . 45ACP out of her pocketbook, their eyes where big as saucers :--) I replied : Yea, I talked her out of getting the

Desert Eagle :D

If I could carry my 12 guage concealed I would get a permit, the darn thing is just too large, Oh well I guess I will just have to give myself away by letting everyone see the weapon while I'm carrying it.

wife and i both have permits

never had to use it ... pretty big guy who avoids all the trouble i can ... but i carry anytime i go i longs trips ... reciprocity or not ... with a pretty wife and 2 kids i'd rather end up in jail for illegal posssesion than dead and law abiding without it ...

speaking of which, what are the laws in Muncie?

I tend to whole heartedly agree with this logic.

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

On other sites, and in other polls, I am amazed to see how often Kahr pistols are mentioned. I always thought they were a cheap little POS. But I did a little research and found out I was wrong. Reports are they are very reliable and very accurate right out of the box. Not to mention concealable.

Of course, here in Nebraska, our good legislature does not see fit to let us carry. The governor would sign it into law but the yahoos out of Omaha won't let it come to vote.

Even still I think I'd to pick up one in . 40 Short and Weak. My Springfield P9 is great, but it's on the large side.

I'm carrying one at all times unless I'm at work (Law doesn't allow one in a school). You can have the best defense weapon in the world, but it doesn't do you any good at home in the drawer when you need it.

There is a really good book on this subject: "The Seven Myths of Gun Control" by Richard Poe. If any of you have wives or girlfriends that don't feel real comfortable with the concept of a defense weapon, have them read this book. It'll open their eyes.

I have about 8 months till I hit the age of 21, I'll be at the Berks county courthouse THAT DAY applying. My dad's had concealed carry for 26 years, including 9 years in NJ, where CCPs are made of unobtanium (one of his best friends was a higher-up for the DEA in Newark. ) I've grown up around guns and have the utmost respect for them, taken the classes etc. I also have the utmost respect for my life and the things I worked hard to own, no one is taking either away from me

Yes ;) & stories of "had to use my gun" are frequently used by the anti-gun folks to show our "Wild West" mentality.

Just something to keep in mind... ... ...

I have to pay Jeb Bush to work in this state. (One if His new laws) I'm not going to pay him to carry in my truck what he doesn't know is in there anyhow.

Waiting patiently in Missouri for everything to pass. As I understand it first we were going to be able to apply for one, then our pinhead governor, a democrat, vetoed the bill. What is interesting is that our representative, a democrat has been a strong pusher for it! When going to the track over in East St. Louis, Gateway, you definetly do want to leave home without it!;)

These are some really good responses.

daveshoe, congrats on getting a CCW law passed in Ohio. I am an ex-Illinois resident like XCumminsX and was very frustrated with the system.

kentdiesel, I too have a wife that likes the . 45, her choice is a Kimber Gold Match Stainless in 45 ACP.

NETim, my carry gun is a Kahr K9 or a Kimber Classic. I would highly recommend the Kahr.

Steve M, you forgot to check "NO, I am against it". You obviously do not care about the law. Nice shot at the Bush's though... ... NOT! ;)

My personal opinion is that CCW permits are a good thing if a class is required to show your competency with a gun and an explanation of the law is presented. We don't need any reason for the media to prove their "Wild West" theories.

Yep, I found out shortly after moving to Ct. 18 years ago that a permit is MANDATORY for transporting a handgun any where out side of your primary residence. You can not legally, even go to a range with your hand gun without the state issued permit. Stupid and onerous restriction on law abiding citizens, but I went along with requirements [course,paperwork,fingerprinting,background-check etc. ] and got it. There are no other permits available for mere transportation, hunting etc. you must get the CCW permit. So carry I do. Never had to pull it or use it but glad to legally have one with me just about at all times. Not sure what other states recognize the Ct. Permit but as others have stated, I'll cross that bridge if necessary. Jim G

I`m in my 10th year with an Arizona CCW permit. Never leave home without it. Happily, never had to use it.

I spend about 6 months a year in Mexico which has VERY strong gun control laws. Usually feel naked the first few days I`m there.

I notice that despite the "wild west" comparisons, those indicating having to actually pull their guns resulted in NO further action by the offenders - exactly what possession of a gun does in most cases - PREVENTS a crime or serious injury by a perp!

But of course, THOSE instances never make the headlines...

Here in California, it takes serious proof of "need" to obtain a CCW - just a desire holds no weight at all...

Been carrying since 1982..... I decided to make it legal around 1996. Even had a rifle in my truck every day in my Jr. and Sr. years of high school and NEVER thought about killing the class... . just common practice where/when I grew up.

Serious Proof ..

I guess you have to be a two-faced Diane Frankenstine or Hollywood elite to get a permit ... you have to be one of the beautiful and important people. "Do as we say, not as we do!", thats the California way it seems. The little people don't need protection!!!!

I hope it changes some day for you folks out there, but I don't think it ever will ... amazing how the Federal Constitution clearly spells out our God given right, but the pointy headed elitests and dictator want-a-bees go to great lengths to say that what we read is not! what we read.

Wish Missouri would hurry up and get it legal. Or hurry up and get rid of Holden. He's as useless as tits on a boar hog. I carry either my Super Blackhawk or my Blackhawk in my truck pretty much anywhere I go I which ever one I'm not using is on the nightstand. I have a feeling either Holden or Gephardt paid off that Judge in St. Louis to file against it. Just like Gepcrap had the Confederate battleflag removed from the soldiers graves who fought under it.

Yep. Have had my CCW for almost 3 years.

Gary, it all depends on your County. If the local PD, will not issue, try the County. The City is in the County. The County rules.
