Mother's Day

At least some of you remember launches became so routine that Television stations did not even air them. I use to skip school when ever there was a televised launch.

The trip to Mar's the rockets should use Nuclear as a power this way would solve worry of returning ,back to space station were could dock. Then Space X could return personal back to earth.:p In smaller units that carry four people at a time.

Dave,

Not me... I saw all the launches I could on TV and still do. Heck, I still look at the sky when I hear an aircraft to check it out. I love spacecraft and aircraft.

Aim High Air Force! Ron

Very!

When we visited the Kennedy Space center we got to see one of the rocket transports moving, it was really large. Also in the museum we saw the moon rover or copy there of, and it was based on the same drive/chassis as our old 1976 HD 4 wheel 36V golf cart.
We were there several months ago too It was fascinating. You don't realize how enormous the rockets are. Due to a raging thunderstorm in Ormond Beach we missed a planned launch. We also saw a bunch of trucks with firepit rims, hearng aid shops,CBD sold everywhere and urgent cares. Lots of retirees and the services they need. Better roads, cheaper fuels and a lower cost of living for sure.
I doubt toilet curtains would be on any president's priority list.

I'm sure the scientists have considered it. Not feasible I guess.

The brilliant physicist Dyson Freeman explored the nuclear pulse engine concept when he worked for General Atomics in the 1960's, though I am sure others have since revisited the concept. His son, George, a science historian and author, wrote a book about it. I have read and enjoyed one of Georges other books, his early autobiography The Spaceship and the Canoe, and frankly this one might be a good read too--

"Project Orion: The Atomic Spaceship 1957–1965"

Buzzkill. Thanks for throwing politics into this historic moment.

That's right you guys all give him a pass. NASA made the rules, not me. I am sure you would have done the same for President Obama?

Way to go SpaceX. Job well done.

Space X latest test prototype, Starship which is being built to go back to the moon. This is a small scale version sporting only ONE of eventually 6 rocket engines. Starships final size is slated to be 400 ft tall and 30 ft in diameter with a cargo capacity of 100 tons.

I sure am glad to see the US launching our payloads and astronauts into space... To me it was the worst slap in the face to pay Russia to launch us into space. Space is expensie, but much of our superior technology came from it. Go space program!
