Mine did not rest against the connector, it rested against the wires, which will wear faster. If you start two inches of wire loom/wrap by the stud the ground is connected to, where you can reach better, wrap end in tape, feed the loom up the ground four inches, wrap in tape, and repeat, you can fish the loom all the way up the ground. Much easier than cutting the connector out and then rewiring it back in
