On my '97 4wd, the upper & lower control arm bushings were shot after about 5 years and 100k miles, and the cost of replacing the bushings was estimated at around $ 600 (lots of labor to do that !).
Simple solution: went to Off Road Warehouse in San Diego and for not much more than that I got the Rancho 2" lift kit that features new polyurethane bushings in new arms, spacers etc. The ride improved, etc. I did have to get new Rancho 9000's but now they're 9 way adjustable, even better.
For my situation and money, it was a sensible upgrade for about the same as stock fix, and couldn't be happier with the results. I've alread got the 19. 5 tires & rims, so I didn't need the 5 " life some guys get... ...
