I wish I had a pic of the Mid 1980's Cab Over MAC truck around here on the 20,000 lb pulling class. I last saw it at the Lawrence County Fair about 2 years ago. It had a V12 Detroit with Quad Turbos. I have Never seen anything link that in my life. The front wheels had to be 6' in the air going down the track. Way more HP than the truck in this vid.
TWilkening is partly right... It IS basically 2 8v92TAs bolted together, but in this configuration it is called a 16V92TA by detroit diesel (the biggest single block truck engine is the 12V92TA. ) This monster engine, coupled with bigger injectors, larger turbos and a few other mods makes for one of the most powerful and best sounding diesels...
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the 2 cycle detroits. They are marvels of engineering and are unbelievably robust. It is incredible to think that an engine released in 1938 has survived to this day virtually unchanged (you can interchange everything except for heads on an engine from 38, but everything was homologated in 41 so everything 41 on has the same mechanical parts, and you can still get marine non DDEC engines badged as MTU. )
