Has anyone tried the Royal Purple coolant additive and does it work ?thanks  Matt 3500 black laramie dually leer cap dodge steps MBRP 6 inch exhaust tip tfp door handles and mirror covers go rhino dual hitch step

I have and it works great! It was a requirement in my Ford Diesel. What it does is reduce cavitation (which causes air bubbles resulting in uneven cooling and possible engine damage).

It worked great for me!

how many bottles did you put in? I have 1 bottle in mine and if I remember correctly one is not enough for our trucks due to the cooling system size.

Is this the "Purple Ice" stuff I saw when I googled it? Is it actually purple in color? WOndering if one had a warranty issue and they saw the stuff in there they might try and find an excuse to deny coverage...

The coolant additive does work great. One bottle is all that is required. If you live down south you can increase the ratio of water to antifreeze and you will get even better results. I probably have 2/3 water instead of 50\50 and I'm getting noticeably better results than 50/50. I think the directions show you use as much as 90% water but I'm not that brave.

yep, that is the stuff! it is invisible once it is in the cooling system.

purple ice

:rolleyes:The reason I am inquiring about this product it says on the bottle that you cant put it in a new radiator Is it compatable with the HOAT anti freeze that is in these new 6. 7 engines MATT 2007. 5 3500 black Laramie dually tfp SS door handles go rhino hitch step leer cap MBRP 6 inch SS exhaust tip:confused:

That's exactly my point - you guys are saying "it works great". Okay, what exactly did it do? I mean, what is it about the truck that you've noticed has improved so much?

Ryan

Maybe it works good in the fact that it makes them feel good they have an additive in the coolant. :-laf

It stayes cooler under hard exceleration and even when it does climb over 200 degree's it comes back down quicker. I run royal purple in everything I have, even my weed eater... It made my 92 a whole different animal.

I added this to my coolant this week and I defiantely see a difference! My truck used toi run on the 200 ( 5. 9l) on hot days around town and 210 pulling a grade with the trailer. It runs on about 190 around town with ac on, and pulling it gets to 210, but cools off immediatly after I level off instead of taking a few miles to cool down... worth a try!

How does it improve cooling? Is it made from liquid freon??

Or is it a lube for the waterpump or system cleaner or something like that?

Says on the bottle and website that it reduces surface tension of the cool and improves heat transfer. It also states that it does keep the system clean and lubricate the water pump. . YOu got it!

My temps stay lower all the time. Trailer or no trailer hooked up I see a noticeable drop in temps. Even a major hill climb with a 18,000 lb load can't get the temps to budge much past 200 F. As soon as I hit the top of the hill the temps immediately drop back down to normal.

I was told from my local Cummins dealer that I should to to CAT and get there coolant. Apparently it is a waterless coolant and it is rated for 600,000 hours of use. Have any of you guys tried this coolant he is referring to? My friend put it in his 01 and if having good luck with it but I wouldn't mind any second opinions.
