My truck has recently popped a few freeze plugs, there has been no sign of the head gasket leaking, does'nt appear to be boost related, but could be the issue, there is about 5000 miles since the rebuild, it seemed that if you went over 3500rpm it would push one of the large plugs out on the rear or the right side of the block, i built a cover plate for the rear of the engine so the rear plug cant come out again, on the right side rear it has bolt holes on the sides of the plug port so i installed bolts with large washers holding it down, i aslo installed a 13lb cap on the rad with new oem cummins thermostat, and now the middle plug is out, i have some haisley race freeze plugs with o-ring and h-bar i will put in the middle hole, leaving one stock freeze plug in, i think i will fill it with straight water and run the engine at 3000 rpm with the rad blocked untill it hits about 210-220 deg, and if that doesnt pop it out i will crank the blow offs up and try to run 70 psi boost at 2500 to 3000 rpm over the summit and see if that will take it out, just running out of ideas:rolleyes:

Have you looked into clipping the fins on the water pump or installing one of the new bypass systems?

i did the fin clip but the water pump went out after about 3500 miles with a cracked seal, i thought that might be due to an in balance with one blade missing, i already have enough junk under the hood so i dont really want a coolant bypass, what restricts the coolant flow anyhow besides the t-stat

I don't know what restricts it, but some people have had good luck with the bypass

my last motor was around 650 rear wheel, and never had a problem, running the same boost levels as this one, same block and head, only difference is number five cylinder is sleeved and giant injectors:rolleyes:

It's not always boost, but RPM that causes the problem. Isnt' it?

Most of the guys I know that loose plugs is due to high RPM

i guess it doesnt really matter now, i just installed my new pushrods and truck still has a dead hole, probably just needs a new or remanned head,

so what happened to the old motor? Was it dynoes at 650?

What HP do you think the current motor is at?
the old motor was dynoed, then taken on vacation only to hang an injector on the interstate in vegas and fry a cylinder, not sure what the new motor is putting out, still have to install a second cp-3, but with the smarty on 2 and 30% on the ts and the tst on 1x1 and the meth on with the blow offs set at 60psi, this motor feels just as strong, but might just be the extra rpm, i hooked to the sled once and twisted off my rear driveline in june:)

You must of had some good traction. I don't see very many 3rd gen dodges losing drivelines on the sledpulling track

i didnt have my traction bars finished yet, i started to get a little wheel hop so i backed out of it and when the hop stopped i stood on it and didnt think the motor would come back so hard and snap good by driveline, i run a 3850 valair sled pulling clutch that hooks solid:)
