Update on the Core shifter.
I've had a bit of drive time on it before I removed my trans for a clutch. The shifter is very tight in it's feel and assembly It will take some braking in. The throw of the shifter is drastically reduced, and the movement through the gears is a much smaller area to navigate, You don't have to throw your hand over to the passenger seat for 5th 6th or R. It feels very mechanical; there is no question as to what gear you're in when you pull or push it. This is a weird way to describe it but I imagine shifting with it feels close to sliding a blade in-between ribs. You're either in or not, and there is very little play and room for error.
No spacer plate is used during installation of this shifter and because of that there is more engine and transmission noise that you can hear. It's not terrible if you wanted you could use some noise insulation material around the top of the trans or in the shifter boot.
My only complaint is that the return motion isn't the same as the stock shifter where you could slap it out of a gear and it return to neutral. There doesn't feel like there's much preload pushing it back to neutral. But this could be because it's not broken in yet, I've a few hundred miles on mine and I'm not used to it 100%, I used to be able to double clutch down shift on the OEM shifter but it's a learning curve for the movement on this new Core one as you have to guide the shifter with your hand back to N, and the distance to the gears is very short.
Overall I'm happy with this purchase and would easily do it again, this shifter puts the short in short shifter. I'd like to compare it to a BD short shifter but there's no one near me with one. This costs a good bit more than the BD but for the quality of the product I can't complain, It's a very precise and solid feeling shifter that you can row fast with, the construction is is really robust aswell.
