Must I be a grease ball?

Exhaust Brake with Allison trans Q

I had a set of Ride Right [rear] air helper springs installed to help me support my 5th wheel trailer. Now I need to figure out the pressure I need to use in the air bags and in the tires.

A little background for my set up:

The trailer is a Cedar Creek 362BBS w GVWR 12,108lbs and Hitch Weight 1,708lbs.

Last year [when I bought the trailer] I had a little over sized tires on and they where inflated to 65psi - when I hitched up the trailer it pushed the back down a bit but not too bad.

Now I went back to the original [and correctly load rated] Michelin LTX tires and installed the Ride Right.

What is the correct pressure I need to use in the suspension air bags and rear tires?????

Yesterday when I had them installed the shop put in 70psi into the bags and 40psi into the tries ... . now when I am riding down the road it feels like this: Oo. [the first time this Smilie makes sense ]

Thanks for any help!

Is it bouncy WITH the trailer, or just empty with 70psi in the bags? Mine was real bouncy while I was leak testing the bags for a few days. I'd say tires should be closer to 65psi (I always try to get a good pattern on the tire for the load- see if the whole width of the tread is riding on the pavement by dirty/clean comparison of the center tread versus the outermost tread). I run my airbags at 10psi empty, 60psi with trailer (1200lb tongue weight) to level the back end to naormal ride height.

I pull a 32ft everest my empty pin weight is 1980 loaded 2350 thats a tripple slide 5vr. I run 70lbs in tires & 45lbs in the air bags, she rides great.

Have you weighed your truck empty then with 5vr? seems a little lite on the pin for a trailer that size.

I did NOT hook up the trailer yet, just driving around empty. I was hoping to set the same number for empty and with the trailer, so I don't have to mess with air pressure every time I hook up the trailer. But the longer I research this problem the more I am convinced that is a dream [not reality] ... .

The pin weight is from the manual, I didn't weight it.

I think I will try 55psi in from 65psi in back [what I used to use] and set the the bags at 40-50psi and see what happens. We are going camping next weekend, so the trailer will be on.

Thanks for the feed back.
