I concede that he most certainly will not find a 12V with 6-speed or rear disk, but my point is the addition on such items as a 6-speed transmission or the conversion of a Dana 80 to rear brakes is much easier and direct then switching and 12V into a 24V's home. Almost anyone could convert rear disk brakes, 5 or 6-speed trany, auto to manual, SRW to DRW and so on, the parts exist and it's merely a matter of physical change, granted some minor mods might be necessary, but mainly you have guide line to follow. The 24V engine to P-pump change is not that cut and dry, nor have I heard of anyone doing it. The 12V engine into the 24V compartment is easier then the conversion to a 12V, but still a Major undertaking. I would very much prefer to buy a decent 12V, which is not that hard to come by, the local trader has 27 that I count tonight, and convert it to the 6-speed with or without rear disk brakes. The rear brakes found on the 2nd generation trucks are very adequate when properly adjusted and outfitted with quality parts. I to do not care for the 3rd gen looks, inside or out. I respect those who have them, but I nor my wife would ever want one. We have ridden in several over the years and neither was very impressed. I would not call them GIRLY, no big diesel truck looks girly to me, but compared to the newer Fords they do not exactly look as manly, nor do they have the rating the new Fords have.
