EPA looking for deleted trucks.

Doubtful he is EPA unless he has been sitting in waiting for the last 5 years (i.e., since he joined).

There is a lot of info already out there about deleting but you are kind of late to that party. So much of that market has been shut down or discontinued and few are willing to discuss in public forums products that still exist or advertise their own products publicly. Publicly discussing illegal activity and where to purchase illegal parts is kind of stupid, especially now that the EPA has been cracking down on it more. The first reaction to someone asking around about it is suspicion that they are EPA.

You need to look at the sticker on door sill that states truck must comply to what ever year standard federal emission standards. DOT has been on look out for anyone "rolling coal" to pull over and inspect! Very expensive mistake!! You'll encounter a fine, have to return truck to stock emissions to get out of impound. Plus it makes the rest of us look tarnished! JM2C

As Topzide says.. just drive it and enjoy the truck !!... I recently sold my 04 (zero emissions) and really like my 2020 with all the EPA trackers and spy software on it..:D.. It gets worse mileage, but has 2x the HP / TQ so make sense; and is soooo comfortable its worth it. I used to subscribe to the emissions BS back in the 80s, and 90s but todays modern cars are soo much more reliable that its just absurd to be deleting a functional (non invasive) system, I do not miss that exh smell, and start remotely in the shop w/o soot on the wall and its nice and quiet. Good luck with your plans but it can be costly later if you decide to sell it other than private party as I have heard that some dealers are not even looking at deleted trucks for trade ins.

Please provide data; not from I read this on the internet!

When you "delete" a truck, you are removing federal emission equipment that the truck was required to have to be used on the road. Yes, states may not require emissions testing but that doesn't relieve you of the federal requirement to keep these components intact. Is it really worth the expense to remove these items to be fined and have the possibility of truck being impounded! This is why you don't see companies selling the components anymore. Diesel Brothers had to put up a big disclaimer on their show stating that they don't alter emission components! Once you go down that road, you could be stuck with a big "BRICKED Trucked". Not worth the risk.

Our son is in wholesale exhaust business and is currently under EPA audit for every thing they have bought and sold. Been going on for months. They are getting serious on deleting.

Well Sno... some folks like learning the hard way.. time will tell, all I can say is I am leaving all the EPA tracking devises installed... I was behind a new Furd 350 yesterday and we both went down the road same speed, but he looked like ____ : well you can imagine with all that black smoke coming out of a new truck.. My 04 never even hazed all that much, but then black smoke is just $$$ going out the pipe :)

This has been around a long time on these trucks, not "drinking the koolaid". Just plain hard facts! Federal Law trumps the State Law, plus all the Interstates abide by Federal Regulations which means DOT does the enforcement

Well, I'm not a delete guy, my truck has over 575K and is still full emissions equipped, but I have yet to see a truly documented case where any individual owner was fined for removing any emissions equipment. Now, in states where emissions are checked, there have been many cases where registration renewal has been denied until the vehicle was brought back into compliance, but no fines levied.

On commercially operated vehicles, I've seen a few that were put out of service by DOT inspectors at a weigh station for having disabled or malfunctioning emission equipment, but private owners are not subject to those inspections.

There have been plenty of tuners and shops that were doing deletes, that the EPA fined them out of business, but not their customers.

Yeah I understand, as an engineer duty cycle is always a consideration.......... and we need to keep politics out of actual adult conversations ......... (there is a place for those)

Of course you have to realize with that many miles, my truck is nearly 100% highway, least stressful on everything, including all emissions equipment.

Your truck and GS's have the best type of mileage possible. I would take your trucks at 300k over the average guys at 100k.

So, A few months ago, a complete delete kit for my 2017 Ram 5500 was $2200, EGR, DPF, complete exhaust system, and tuner. It was a brief itch, then gone. Hope the deleted guys kept all their hardware when Feds tie highway funding to full emission enforcement.

Cheers, Ron
