I always got a chuckle reading on the potted meat cans.....”mechanically separated chicken”.Why not? Its the lips and eyeballs that make them so tasty.

There's a commercial with Terry Bradshaw sitting at a bar. The guy in the next stool gets some sushi handed to him. Terry says "back home we call that bait!" Exactly my sentiments.My mom's parents immigrated from Denmark and started a pig farm (Hog ranch). My dad and his siblings immigrated from Denmark. They all knew how to use every part of an animal (that paid off during the great depression). I grew up learning to like head cheese which is everything contained in the pig head, and when they butchered, lots of fresh blood cakes. So hot dogs, scrapple, rullepolse, et al are good to me but I don't like souchie.
