I'm finally a Dodge CTD owner! Up until today my only experience with the Cummins was in our company's FL70 box truck, but that has now changed. I purchased a '96 2WD CC LB Auto with 4. 10 LSD and the Laramie SLT package. It's replacing my '93 Chev 4x4 1/2 ton V6 gasser. Talk about a difference.

The truck only has 48,000 miles and drives very tight. Is $13,900 a fair price? Guess it's too late now if it wasn't. I'll be towing a small boat (3,300 lbs. ) and commuting the other times. Should I wait until the first signs of transmission trouble, or replace things like the TC and VB right away? Thanks in advance for any ideas to keep this truck running several more years.

reliable transmission

If all you want to do is tow a small boat and with proper maint it should last at least 250,000 miles before any trouble. mine lasted that long and only started to slip when I had it slightley bombed. If you want to bomb it and have the bucks, get a dtt trans. Stormy blue road.

Congrats on the the new ride..... One suggestion to keep it running. Read up on the killer dowel pin. There are a couple ways to deal with this defect. Don't let it bite you in the butt..... The price might be a tad high but, with 48k miles, it just broken in;) Enjoy your new wheels!

Thanks for the reminder on the dowel pin. About how much should it cost to repair? Also, I haven't been able to find the tow ratings or GCWR for this year truck. Does anyone have info on that?

Welcome, what part of the P. N. W. do you live in? If you can turn a wrench and can get on northwest list to use the KDP JIG kit it will only cost you a donation and shipping to the next person. Another site you may be interested in is www.nwbombers.com there is a bunch of us that are members on both sties.

If you look up the blue book value for the club cab and the mileage, you got a good deal for a truck in good shape. Don't forget those pesky quick connect fittings at the trans if they haven't been attended to. They have been known to let go at the worst time, then a new trans is in order. You'll enjoy your truck and it should last a long time like others mentioned.
