Hypertech Max Energy for towing yes or no

First, i have two flat bed trailers, a gatermade 16' lowboy and a 25' hurst dovetail. The dovetail i bought used, the guy hauled a mini track hoe on it, and it had some sand paper stapled to the dovetail portion. The tracks at the paper up, but i really like the idea of a non slip tape. What do you guys use for a grip tape thats real wide like that? Both trailer are wooden decks.

Also on my 7 pin connectors for the trailer wiring, i am using only 6, with the 7th pin no used, it is for acc/backup, so i can i wire in some on deck trailer lights, and have a switch on the trailer, using that aux power supply? How do you guys have your deck lights mounted?

Thanks for the help.

BWHD, I have some stick-on sheets from AW Direct approx 6" X 20" on my metal-floored tilt trailer so my lawn mower can get on. Wonder how it would work to apply some epoxy glue to the travel areas, then sprinkle in some coarse sand or fine gravel? Your 7 pin connector has an auxillary that you can hook deck lights to. If you wire to the backup, won't you have to have your truck in reverse to make 'em work? If you have an automatic trans, will the 35s gear your truck up so much that 6th gear will be unusable? Hope you get 'er all sorted out! Mark

the truck is on 35's now and i have the manual g56. Its perfect now, in 6th @70mph i am 1800rpms, and at 75mph i am at 2000, or around in there.

I dont know about the gravel, i was just thinking some good heavy duty sand paper, or grit tape stapled to the wood. On the deck lights, the 7th pin says (acc/rev) So i guess its both, i know it has power while in reverse, but i dont know what you need to do to get the acc to work. Do you guys put the switch on the trailer or in the truck? Thanks alot

Hook your aux. circuits to #4 terminal of plug... usually black and 10Awg. This wire is fused high on the truck and if you tap lite circuits on trailer than always fuse your new circuit as close as possible to connection to #4 terminal on trailer junction box. For deck lites, depending on how many,I would think 14awg. wire with a 15A fuse would be sufficient.

Traction paper on trailer ?

Temporary maybe, I would rather see expanded metal, you can buy it fine or coarse mesh then use 2 inch wood or metal screws with fender washers to attach to the deck. You can cut it to whatever size you like narrow or wide strips to suit the job. Have fun !
