Whenever you pick the "right gun" for coyotes... don't rely on it alone.
When I was a kid, my mom was shooting a rabid dog that came to our house with a . 22 rifle( her weapon of choice)... after several shots, my uncle took the rifle because he thought she was missing, and emptied the rest of the magazine into the dog. My dad ended the dog with a wagon standard to the head. The dog had no less than 10 holes in it's body and head.
I've watched Dad shoot a large German Shepard three times with a 30-06 as it came toward him. I could see the "spray" with every shot.
And I've shot a coyote with a 16 gauge... it was snapping at the hole in it's side before it died.
Don't let the intruders get too close... man or beast. Don't get trapped.
