I use a Thompson handgun (old style) red dot and a single night vision scope. Red dot in green body - BINGO one less coyote! This combo doubles your range, you can take them out and they never knew what hit them. They really do not get cautious until they are closer to buildings etc. I just got a small handgun crosbow, putting a red dot on it and making a little mounting bracket for the night vision. Thought I'd get a little more sporting. I live out of town, tons of them, every night. My gurdian dog has killed many of them trying to get into my livestock and chicken pen. Pain in my posterior. I moved here 4 years ago - 1st year I did in 26, 2nd year I did in 45, third year I did in 48 dog did in 12, so far this year I am at 15 dog is at 6. Some of the ranchers here will give you as much as $150 per hide, average is $100. You could make a living killing coyotes. One of my neighbors calls them the Chinese Army - he says the Chinese will probably come at us the same way some day. I'm somewhere close to or just over 15K in earnings from the ranchers - tax free. I feed the meat to my stock dogs. I also have done in tons of foxes, same way. Sometimes I use a turkey call or just one of those dog squeak toys. I made a tape of my chickens when they are laying eggs, get plenty coyotes with that too. Really don't need to call them in they are everywhere.
