CR Smarty, software changes?

I too think the cc is annoying with 90hp and up, you can see the boost gauge go from 2~3 psi of boost then shoot to 10~11psi then back over and over.

Marco, with this software change, is this going to be an optional update? In other words, can the Smarty be loaded up with what ever the owner wants? Like buy the basic smarty and do an update off of your site with more agressive or less agressive tunes?



I am sure there are a few of us that will want the most agressive programs you can pass out. :-laf

How about something similar to the "try before you buy" that bully dog does? That way a dealer could buy the "dealers box" and load the program and after a preset time/key cycles the truck returns to stock. Would that be possible with the smarty?



I am sure a test drive would definitely sell one.

I also don't like the touchy throttle, and I don't like to take my foot all the way off the go pedal to make a gear shift. I do a lot of driving in stop and go traffic, which is giving me a hard time judging the take off from 2nd and the shift from 2nd to 3rd for a smooth transfer. I would hate to try to pull so livestock even on level SW1.

Love the power on SW1 and SW3 levels.

Marco I like the throttle and the smoke. The only thing that bugs me is that I don't think I have second gear anymore with the Smarty programmed in my truck. Stock it shifts all the gears fine, but with the Smarty its a quick first gear them a lag into third, no second. I would love it if it had adjustable shift points. I do plan on getting an ATS tourque convertor but I want to wait as long as possible. Keep up the good work.

1. Top speed elimanator. It still defuels at 107mph or something like that.

2. Increased in redline for the sleadpullers out there.

3. Increased spool-up the the people using BIG turbos like sps66's... There's gotta be something that you can do to make these spool like stock or even a high altitude setting





Also is there a way to load two programs on the computer so it would be possable to switch between the two. I know its impossable to load all 9 but how about 2. Doesnt the BDDL have a feature like that.

Thanks Marco for a great product. I would really like to see something done about shifting thru 2nd gear so fast in the automatics. I installed a new transmission with stiffer valve body springs the other day. Previously, I liked the #5 setting for driving around and #3 for heavy towing. Now I feel that I'm limited to the 30hp setting -otherwise I don't get to enjoy the crisp shifts provided by my new transmission.

It is so awesome on this setting. What I would love to have would be the 130 hp setting with fueling starting after 8 psi of boost or so . I love all the programs, just do not like the smoke. I am installing another valve body to address the 1-2 shift at 9 mph. The only other thing I need is a modified version of your smarty to control smoke at off idle .





I like the throttle response. That is great. If we could get the smoke down when taking off, this smarty would rock.

Smarty Update Procedure

Hi Marco!

My Smarty is being updated right now. Definitely took a few tries to figure everything out. It might be helpful if the download page is reorganized a little bit, like a list or a tree, where the D2XX Drivers thing is at the top, along with the Driver Installation Guide; then the Smarty USB program thing; then the assortment of new programs, the documentation section, etc. That way everything needed is presented in order and will be loaded and ready ahead of time. This might make things more intuitive for us 'hunt and peck' types.

Just in case you're looking for things to do in your spare time :-laf

BigDan you must not have a SMARTY or tried one. Compared to the Bully Dog Power Pup this thing lights my turbo up better than the truck lit the stock turbo up with BDPP/BDDL set on 90hp... . I have instant off the line power and boost :-laf My wife was like :--) when I didn't tell her I had it set on #9 :--) She was used to having to get on it with the BDPP, she was pretty mad I didn't tell her what I had done. #@$%! Even with the #1 30HP with added timing setting it spools better than the BDPP did.

ok Marco and Bob, I went out for a short test drive at night, I could not see the smoke but of course its night time. But I will say that i have more pedal now and it feels real strong. I just wonder is software 3 the same as what I used to have when I first received smarty or is it an updated low smoke version.





either way I will report back tomarrow after my ride into work.

Well, I rode in this morning. All I can say is wow ! I still have all my power like the original version. But guess what, The smoke is GONE off idle. This will make for a very nice running rig now. Thanks Guys, software number 2 is just what the doctor ordered!! Thanks Marco and Bob !!

Does the advertised horesepower still apply to this new software? I assume that it's just less in the lower RPM's.



I just finished the download and will install on Sunday and see how it feels.
