BigDan you must not have a SMARTY or tried one. Compared to the Bully Dog Power Pup this thing lights my turbo up better than the truck lit the stock turbo up with BDPP/BDDL set on 90hp... . :D I have instant off the line power and boost :-laf My wife was like :--) when I didn't tell her I had it set on #9 :--) She was used to having to get on it with the BDPP, she was pretty mad I didn't tell her what I had done. #@$%! :D Even with the #1 30HP with added timing setting it spools better than the BDPP did.

Dan and I ran my Smarty on our trucks back-to-back prior to him purchasing one. At the time, I had a SPS66. The Smarty would definitely spool the 66 quickly, especially at high settings, but the smoke was unbelievable. "Like a 12v with a 0 plate" as someone else described it on these forums.

I swapped in a SPS62, and that thing spools like right now, Smarty or not. Smoke is much more controllable, and with the SW#2 is going to be great!

Currently I'm running the stock turbo, and it's just funny. I'm lighting the tires all over the place! I'm hoping to get my 62 back soon, as my stock turbo is starting to sound like an owl.

... and the Bully Dog Triple Dog is a joke in comparison. I had one of those, too.

Marco,

I visited the site and noticed another update today. It appears that there is a moderate level now. Is this the wild torque management that has been requested?

Update # 1. Stock torque management. Sez it all ?

Update # 2. Less aggressive throttle response. Less smoke. Better AT transmission shifting. More stick transmission shifting friendly. In all I'd say a good daily driver.

Update # 3. Is not exactly like the original software that came with your Smarty but is very close to it. All files for manual trucks have a slightly less aggressive TQM. A few bugs are fixed. I've tried to address the early shifting issues for the AT's. My favorite...

Should you NOT like the updated #3 you can have the original version anytime.

Helps?

Marco

Bob,

The reason for the question is that the order of the last update 1) stock, 2) moderate, and 3) standard smarty is different than the most recent update 1) stock, 2) standard smarty, and 3) moderate. I thought they were in the same order as before and that "moderate" was greater than "standard smarty". Once I updated it and drove it I knew I was wrong.

Avi

P. S. can't wait for wild

Wait, I just went back to the Mads site and found the order to be the same 1) stock, 2) standard smarty (mild), and 3) moderate. What gives I truely felt less power on the moderate level. What does this recovery program consist of?

Avi

P. S. Please stop working on the rattle with Driverno8 and work on the Wild Smarty. :D

Marco,

I agree with this post 100%!

The only thing I want to change in smarty is smoother cruise control, everything else needs to stay the same.

Don't need to tame or mellow the smarty out, just get smarty to run smoothly while using the cruise control.

If others agree with this post please chim in to let Marco know we don't want or need any drastic changes to smarty... . :-laf

The only issue I have with the cruise contol is the rate of deceleration. It acts like you've just lifted off the throttle instead of eased off. The acceleration isn't a problem for me.

Otherwise, I love it.

After much discussion and brain storming we have come to the conclusion that we will ship Smarty with version #2 ( mild ) from now on. The first batches came with the # 3 loaded the moderate level. That's the reason we have shifted the describtion on our site.

ASchwartz

The "moderate" version is the same as it was previously! So you should have the same power than before! Sure you did it right?

To help you understand how our SW versions are described.

There are always two different numbers in our softwares.

The first is the Firmware revision, the second is the performance software revision.

Example. -Smt3EV306D202B. zip-

Smt3e = software for Smarty "3e" ( 3e is our internal name for the 03-05 Smarty)

306 = 3 the smarty model, 06 the Firmware revision

202 = 2 version( stock TQM, mild, moderate... ), 02 the perf. SW revision.

If you give it a closer look, in this latest release the first number changed but not the second one. Means that only the Firmware has had changes.

What's the Firmware? It's the software that tells Smartys' hardware what to do and when to do it.

The news in this Firmware update.

1) Improved security during the recovery mode. ( Stuff you'll never notice... )

2) Several customers who had used a different brand downloader before Smarty still got code P0663. Skimm key not programmed into ECM.

That was due to the fact that the skimm key had been erased by the other downloader = Smarty could not read it from the ECM. Thus it appeared as Smarty did erase the key. Not good... ( Smarty HAS to be undetectable!!!)

Well we've come up with a fix that "repairs" the damage done by others.

That code is no more. Lookie, we have to fix what others have broke... :-laf

Please stop working on the rattle with Driverno8 and work on the Wild Smarty.

That IS one and the same. R&D = progress done... :D

Yes, I did it right. I must have just gotten used to the power.

Keep up the good work and quick response time.

Hey Marco,

I know you have been really swamped with the updates, but could I get some info on the question about the commonrail swap into a superduty that I PMd you about? :D

Bob, I got it loaded up, and everything is fine!! Towes great, and the cruise is rock solid. When you all get that high idle kit out, I'll be one happy camper toter!

I just got back from delivering a 40' King of the Road to Seguin, Tx. , made 10. 4 mpg against a pretty high head wind, and left it in #3 coming back empty and got 21. 1 mpg. Hand calculated.

Larry

loaded up SW#5 last night to tow my car trailer. It sounded horrible like something was way off. I ended up pulling off the road and reprogramming the truck with SW#6

Marco, is it possible for you to modify program 2 for my 2005 Dodge Ram so that 1st gear will stay engauged above 9 mph? I have tried a modified valve body with a beefer spring in the 1-2 shift valve, but it only changed it by 1 mph. The computer is commanding governor pressure and makes my truck shift 1 to 2 to 3 back to 2 to 3 to 4th. All of the 1 to 2 to 3 back to 2 takes place before 20 mph. If I could get 1st to hang on above 10 mph like up to 17 mph then shift to 2nd I would have a nice shifting transmission.

This condition is the same with my stock valve body or the modified valve body.

The problem is that I do not have a Throttle Valve to adjust on my 05 model. It is all done by the ECM. So if you had a way to extend the 1st gear out a little, I would appreciate it a bunch.
