Well it had to happen finally. In 3 days I went from no cracks to two large and others forming! #@$%!

Couple of questions; first has anyone got DC to replace the dash under warranty? I've got 82K miles on mine but I'm thinking only the drivetrain is still covered under the 5yr/100K warranty.

Next, if I have to fix it myself, I've been thinking of getting one of those thin plastic covers like Geno's sells and gluing it down over the stock dash to hold it together. I'd toss a dash cover over the top of that so looks aren't as important as not having the whole thing cave in on me.

I understand you can get a replacement dash cheap enough but they are a bear to replace?

TIA,

Don

Mine did the same thing. Called DC they could give a rats a#$ about my problem. Called the local dealer he said he could not do anything for me but the district manager may be able to help me. SHE the DM will not even give me a phone call. Poor customer service by DC. I own 2 Dodge vehicles and that will be all for me.

Chris

My buddy got D. C. to fix it under warranty. He hung around and observed. It took all day. Get Geno's cover or a Dashmat and forget about it!

DC has a Customer Service?. When did they start this?.

The rule of thumb is that if the dash is soft, put a dash mat on it or it will crack. If it's not soft on the other hand, you don't need a dash mat.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Guess I'll try the dealer for what it's worth and if I can't get them to fix it, I'll go the Geno's route. I love that Cummins engine but some of the build quality on these Dodge trucks leaves me cold. Plus my '94 with 160K miles and 10 years didn't have this problem.

Must've been that 12V engine... ;)

Well, so you have finally joined the Dodge Dash Crack Club (DDCC). I bet I have more cracks than you. Took me 8 long years to finally join the club. I thought I would never get there. I thought for sure I was going to be crack free and never have the privilege of joining this exclusive club. Everytime I drive down the road now and hit a bump I hear some more popping. Guess where it is coming from. I'm in crack heaven. But you know, this darn truck is still running soooooo goood.

In some cases the dash cracks so bad that it will literally fall out of the truck and on the floor (or on your legs).

This happened to my dads 2500. If the cracks are starting on the top and working towards the gauges and glove box..... Replace it... .

It is a mess when it happens.

LOL! Yeah, I guess I'm the latest member. Also looks like I'm going the Geno's route with the thin cover glued down to hold it together and a nice mat over it.

So where do I get my DDCC stickers? :-laf

Where do these cracks start? Anyone want to post some pictures?

I don't have any pictures but mine is cracking front to back so far. I also talked to my brother the mechanic and you don't want to hear his answer either! :{

Lets just say to do a full dash top replacement according to the book is time consuming and costly to say the least.

I'll try to take some pictures of the fix I've got in mind. It's gotta warm up some first though!

I was quoted about $1,300. 00. Seems they have to replace most of the dash as it appears to be pretty much 1 piece. The dash is about $850. 00 plus about 8 hours to replace. Mine is going to be laying all over the truck before I replace it. As long as I can cover it up it is fine as far as I'm concerned. Thanks Dodge for this wonderful piece of cosmetic perfection.

The cold weather finally got mine too. got one starting from the defrost vent and heading my way. I was thinking about 'stop drilling' it like they do on airplane fairings. Drilling a very small hole just in front of the crack. when the crack reaches the hole it doesn't know which way to go so it just stops. really, no kidding.

i have been a member of the dodge cracked dash for a while, just when i hit 90000 miles i have a hole you could put a small child in.

Crack addict here as well. Started just infront of the glovebox and now is everywhere including a golfball size hole just above the tach guage. Lasted 4 years at least, lol.

Mine cracked Saturday. Getting out of the truck I heard something pop. Looked around, thought I had dropped something. Got in Sunday morning and saw the crack. Right in front of the steering wheel all the way to the windshield. I wonder if the extended warranty will cover this? Only 65k on the truck.

When you put the new ones on, use generous amounts of ArmorAll weeklyand it should last longer...

Are the pieces from geno's a REPLACEMENT or a cover? I do not want a cover...
