The puke bottle is a small, black, specially made Nalgene bottle with a hose running into the top held in place by a single plastic strap attached up against the radiator on the driver side. The puke bottle is supposed to be emptied at every oil change, but I found that the holes in the bottle allow the fan to blow the puked oil all around that area in between oil changes, so I took a 90* barbed fitting, some black plastic cable ties, and some heater hose and extended the puke hose down the frame past the fuel tank. If you decide to do this the hose must be routed in a way so as to avoid dips in the routing where it won't drain freely. It only took about 15 to route it through properly. No more oil blown all over the fan area.
To answer your question specifically, you simply unscrew the cap with the hose thru it and pull the bottle down thru the plastic strap and reverse the process to replace it. After screwing around with this messy affair a couple of times you're likely to take the cure and run the hose for a few bucks like I did so you never have to deal with it again.
