Last Week I got a blip on the Tach and Check Engine Light.



Read Code

P0336 (M) Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Signal Problem with voltage signal from CKP.



I figured it was around 6 years ago that it went out on me before so I got another one.



Before I installed the new one I took an ohm reading - 993.

After removing the old I compared - 1326.



Your thoughts?
 
Sounds like the electronics breaking down in the old one. Wish I would have ohmmed mine years ago when it went out so I had something to go by. I know the rear speed sensor should be around 1800, trans speed sensor around 600, front wheel abs sensors around 600 and now the crank sensor around 1300. Good info.

I guess the question I'm asking is does anyone know why the difference in ohms?

and,

Sine the old one was higher it was on its way out?
 
Well I got the numbers crossed in my last post 993 being new and 1300 old. That sensor uses the Hall Effect as do any speed sensor. Most of my experiences with them wound up with an open circuit thru the electronics. As the components in the sender go out and until the last one gives up the resistance readings will change. Less or more resistance and maybe a dead short. Here is a link to everything you do and do not want to know about hall effect sensing.
