I'm getting an occasional clunk in the rear, and constant grinding and tapping sound which speeds up and slows down w/ the throttle. I jacked up one side at a time and let it spin at idle, and I get noise either way. So, my truck is out of commision- my only vehicle. I don't know if I have a Dana 70 or 80, and I'm pretty oblivious to the inner workings of the rear. Any suggestions? Should I haul it to a shop, or would you suggest trying myself? What's the first thing to check? If I do try the repairs myself, who makes the best parts for the money, and should I upgrade anything while I'm in there? Any help would be great! Thanks! I'll continue researching in the archive, but wanted to post, as time is of the essence.
