I live in juneau Alaska
I travel back and forth across the border many times a year
I like prince rupert going south, thru the canadian rockies jasper, banf lake louise, in 10 years of crossing I have had 1 bad crossing into canada a miss communcation led to unhappy times.
and going south into US at the roosville crossing above kalispell MT, the US gaurds although semi polite tore the seats out of the dodge and emptyed my trailer because they suspected i was transporting drugs A harley in a trailer is suspect?? then guess who gets to put it back together. it only cost me 9 hours. and by the way this is what they told me, You have no rights as a US Citizen when you are on border patrol property your rights start after you cross!!!! I am a law abiding citizen no police record never arrested. land owner in 4 states, no probale cause. I guess i dont mind the taking apart of the vehicles
it is the not putting it back together. other than these incidents, most crossings are painless, my favorite crossing is above HAVARE MT the wild horse crossing they call it. there is a US gaurd there who has a 04 CTD who likes to talk shop about cummins, The thing now to have is a passport makes life very easy.
sorry about the soapbox also for the GOAT sorry about the Alaska ferry no visit thing I work on the ferry and up to 911 we used to do tours all the time. IT is beyond our control.
Chris, my wife and I are planning a trip to Alaska in July or August. We have a Dodge DRW and a large cab-over camper, (11'-3"). Two questions, 1, can we store a firearm at the US side near Glacier NP and pick it up on the way back? 2, We want to go to Juneau and would like to know if we can put the truck and camper on a ferry and what would it cost? Anything else you can tell us about Juneau would be helpful. PM me if you like. Thanks.
