Has anyone here done a crossover setup on their 1st gen? I broke my steering box I think because of limited drag link movement. I have looked at some sites that advertize kits but would like to build one myself.

For the price of the cross over steering setup I think you will be money ahead if you just buy it I believe the kit i bought was less then 450 shipped to Cali and it took less then 2 hours to install and works Awesome .

crossover drag link clearance

OK, to revisit the clearance issue, I read reports of drag links hitting crossmembers and pitman arms hitting springs.
To those who do not have clearance problems:
How much lift do you need for your setup?
Did you use straight or offset drag link (like the one by offroaddesign)?
Is it connected to the hi steer arm or is it connected to the tie rod "inverted T"?
Do you use the steering box in the 2WD position with 4" drop pitman?
Who's drop pitman arm?
Who's hi steer arm? and does it have the 10-15 degree bevel?

I am seeing many setups that advertise no problems, but read of a few as well. I would like to see a recipe that reliably works for the 1st gen CTD.

I have been seriously investigating this, but haven't found the magic recipe yet.

BTW, I am looking at 4" lift this week so I need to get a new pitman arm anyway, so ?????

TIA O ye experienced ones.

I just put on my new PSC steering gear tonight and I looked for the @ wheel drive position and I did not see it. Does it require a two wheel drive bracket? Does the X over system they (offroad design) sell for the GM D60 work on our 60?

Yes the crossover setup works fine on our dodge dana 60's I have the setup if you would like shoot me a pm with your e mail address I will take some pictures and send to you as for hitting mine has not hit as of yet and I have even rolled the truck on the steering box you can use the 4x box but bolt it directly to frame and forget the bracket that the 4x uses you wont need it any more . any more question's let me know .
