Cruise buttons flickering

Recently, I noticed the backlighting on my cruise control buttons flickering off occasionally. It doesn’t appear dependent on turning the wheel to a certain position... MAYBE certain bumps in the road, but I’m not 100% certain. With this, at times, I am unable to turn the cruise control on. I’m guessing a bad connection somewhere. I did have the steering wheel wiring recall done some years back. Wondering if that could potentially be the cause.
Any direction or guidance would be appreciated.

Probably a worn or broken clockspring in your steering wheel. It’s the electrical connection from the wheel to the column.

That was my second thought, but with only 126k and 6 years old I thought it might be wiring related. How difficult is that replacement job?

I had the same occurrence in my 2015 2500 and replaced the switch and everything works as it should. If it’s any indication of how troublesome they are, the dealer had it in stock! My experience with Chrysler products tells me if the part is in stock, they have a fair amount of trouble with that particular part.

I had a 2012 chrysler 300, dealer replaced switch about every 3 months for a year before i got one that worked till 2015

My cruise on off switch is starting to not play sometimes. How hard is it to swap out? Do I need to remove the airbag?

Update: headed to work this morning & multiple attempts to turn on the cruise were unsuccessful, even when the backlighting wasn’t flickering. The opposite side buttons for scrolling through the EVIC worked with no problems.
