My cruise control just started shutting off by itself, it works fine for a few miles then just shuts off. I'll hit resume and it will work again for a few miles then shut off again, i'll hit resume then... ... ... . Has anyone else had this problem? My truck is a 97 auto 4x4 with 260k.

Try lifting the brake pedel up with the tip of your toe. I had one that over time the brake pedel went down just enough to trip the brake light switht when you hit small bumps. It did the same thing you said your's is doing. so now I have a habit ot lifting the brake pedel with my toe every once in a while. I guess I could re adjust the switch, I know it is under there somewhere.

mine shuts off occasionally from a bad crank sensor connection, it may be fine for months but then ill notice the tach bounce and then the cruise scrams, if it does it more then a time or two ill stop and wiggle the crank sensor plug and reseat it a couple times and its good to go usually

I got my 99 in 01 and around 03 the cruise would "just stop" as if you hit the stop pedal, the light on the dash still lit, hit resume - same as yours.

I ended up replacing the vacuum actuator under the left battery. Rubber diaphragm deteriorated and wouldn't hold the go pedal at set point. Anyway, was about $77 at the dealer - that's shop to shop cost and 9 years ago, so if it's still available they're probably twice the cost.
