It has been brought to my attention that the cruise control on the 3gens at times will malfunction without notice, and please post a fix if any.

Sorry, I guess I'm a little slow on this one. Do you want to know if we use it, or does it work correctly?

the only issue I have with my cruise is that it surges like the turned up second gens. when I have the TST on anything over 5/5. But it works fine otherwise and I can't blame my problem on the cruise.

I use mine anytime I am on the highway and traffic flow is normal. Never had a problem stock or any of the mods since. My current daily driving and highway driving is TST 3/5 and EZ Level 1. I don't tow heavy or much at all, so I don't if that is where people are having issues. I could not do with out it on longer trips.

I use it anytime I can drive at a steady speed for a few miles or more (but not in rush hour/heavy traffic). It holds speed well, doesn't surge going up or down hills, doesn't care if Tow/Haul is on or off. It doesn't seem to matter if I am running empty or towing a heavy load, it works well!

part of my surge problem might have been the fact that I still had the stock turbo at the time it was surging. since then I have upgraded the turbo. I towed a 8K trailer with itfor 2500mi. and I didn't have a surge issue.

Mine sucks. Not so much surging as inability to hold speed. It will surge with Juice cranked up, but I won't blame that on the truck.

If I set the cruise at 62mph, I'll sometimes gain as much as 3mph going UPHILL and loose 3-4mph going DOWNHILL. It will do the acceleration anytime the load is light enough. Otherwise it still tries. Not a great way to get good mileage and it really ticks off other drivers who are trying to get around me.

My '01 was the same only this one is more exaggerated. Both did this completely stock as well as chipped.

My cruise surges all the time,My thoughts were that it was modded so no big deal, until lately a have a several calls on it,I decided to investigate further . To begin with, one customers(6 speed stock) cruise surges, and when you touch the cancel button it will take off at WOT,it will not coast and the excel button is completely unpredictable,He took it to the dealer and the fix was a NEW ECM with new flash he said NO WAY!!! ( the cost the ******* wanted $750. 00). My recommendation on this is to WAIT until a update is available then have it flash,This May solve the interface problem. This leads me to believe that when updates are available at times it is better to wait. If you have updates to load the ECM/PCM cannot update latter if other problems surface.

My cruise work fine with my 330 cummins Program and works in the customer 03 (he had the vin change somehow) I think their are two company's that can update and Change the VIN#s the cost is high.

DC explanation on all this is EPA regulations,That"s why you cannot re-flash unless their is a update.

With my current truck I have never experienced any cruise problems to date. Now my last truck, an 04 1500 with the Hemi did. It completely stopped working on 2 different occasions. Once I shut it off and restarted it, it worked perfectly fine. Wierd. The only thing I ever heard from anybody at Dodge concerning this issue, was that they had found a few with wiring issues inside the steering wheel, though surely that wasn't the cause. Most with this problem were perfectly fine. They (my local dealership) is attributing it to something with the software that is extremely intermittent. We have some Mercedees Tractors (European) that do similiar things with the horn. Occasionally the horn will not work after starting the truck. You turn it off and recrank it, the horn works. Electrical Gremlins have struck DC.

I suspect the cruise control function is slightly under-damped in some conditions. Sudden, abrupt changes in the road surface sometimes confuse mine, and it'll oscillate a few times before settling back down.

No complaints, though.

A couple of times many moons ago on a slight downhill and hitting the uphill mine was just gone. Would be set say at 50 mph hit the downhill and on the uphill side would be inop. Hit RESUME and it would come back to life. Otherwise its worked flawless and I use cruise at most any time I can. Holds speed well etc.

well, i hit yes thinking that you wanted to know if we use it... i use the hello out of it. it has malfunctioned twice for sure and one other time i think. it fixed its self by the time i was able to get pulled over, and i kept going. the two times for sure, i was empty, the possible i was towing a trailer. 3 horse slant.

mine seems to work fine... i set it usually somewhere between 90 and 100kph when i actually get on the highways and sit in the slow lane. . doens't seem to move up or down in speed unnecessarly. . although i wish it would engage 20kph slower. .

I use mine all of the time. I usually set it for 60-65mph. This way I don't get the ticketssssssssssssss :{ and have better mpg. ;)

I misunderstood the poll...

Mine is acting up, and I don't know what the deal is. At highway speeds (65-80) with the cruise on you can hear/feel the motor surging. The turbo accelerates and decelerates, but not consistent with the terrain. Sometimes it will surge with the cruise off.

Strange thing is that it seems to have started after I upgraded the Triple Dog to version 2. 2. 5a. It surges regardless of setting. Perhaps a coincidence?

Initially I though it was my pressure box, so I disconnected it. The surging was now less dramatic, but I don't think it's the fault of the box. The box is only processing the signals it sees, so it must be amplifying an issue that's already present. I've had some surging with another pressure box, so it might be the same issue being brought to light by the pressure boxes.

I also unloaded the BDDL. No change, still surging.

Today I unplugged the TST, but I don't think that will solve it. I think it's a high-pressure fuel related problem. I also purchased some dielectric grease for the connectors. I'm not sure where to look next. According to the service manual, the cruise control on manual transmission trucks is all electronic.

If it's not the connections or boxes that are causing it, what is my next course of action?
