Injector Problems

12 Valve in 3rd Gen

I bought an '84 W350 with the Cummins conversion nearly complete. I'm just finishing out some comsmetics. Before photos are posted at http://mysite.verizon.net/reso0qm7/

I notice the rear door panels are different than the front. I figure Dodge got lazy and figured they did not need to redesign the rear door panels for the low production run they expected. Can someone tell me what years used the door panels in the same style as the rear? My front ones are dryrotted. I would like to replace them with doorpanels that match the rear. The older style seems to be made out of better plastic. The old door panels seem to take spray pretty well so I can dye them gray to match the new interior I am putting together.

I am also looking for gray seatbelts and the dash/map light.

Does anybody need a red dash or red bench seat?

How have you gone about getting new carpeting for the rear?

Carpeting,

Front use carpet for a extended cab 4X4 automatic (don't worry if your truck is a stick)

rear carpeting, use carpet for a 4X2 automatic, you will connect the two with a stainless steel trim piece out of a ramcharger (with the SE package). this piece is used to connect the carpet on a ramcharger behind the rear seat. You will need to mold it to the floor using a hard rubber malet and use stainless sheetmetal screws to anchor it behind the front seat and looks like this https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35361 (seat was out of a second gen truck).

ok fellas since i cant seem to find anyone that is interested in my 2 1992 dodge CTD truck i have for sale i was offered a 81 4x4 crew cab short bed x air force truck have around 70k no engine transmission or trasfer case. body is pretty good needs paint but everything is there 60 front with lock outs and 60 rear. i have a 91. 5 dodge CTD 4x4 auto that is wrecked and i wanted to put the CTD,auto, and 205 t-case into the 81 crew cab or i was just going to try and sell the 91. 5. so what do u guys think a good deal or no?

I'm not sire if it'll work, but with a few mods you might be able to put the 81 body on the 91's frame. That would make the engine/transmission mounting a lot easier, and the 4x4 stuff is all the same. As best I can tell the 91's frame is quite a bit 'heavier' than the 81's frame and I'd use the 91's frame if you could. You may have to stretch the frame but that's not too hard to do. A good welder can section in a foot or so, and all of your mounts would be the same. Just a thought, but I think putting the 81 body on the 91 frame would be, in the long run, the best option. It may require some serious welding but I think you'd be better off. Anyways, just a thought...

ya i thought about that idea but the 91 truck is from michigan is the salt has pretty much took and strength away u can crawl under truck and pick on the frame and it will peal right off. on the 81 crew cab there is about 75% of the paint still left on the frame from the factory pretty cool have never seen factory paint on the frame still left from a 24 year old vehicle.

Anybody have a hard time heating that double cab with the standard heater in cold or temperate climates?

Mine was marginal. I took the heater apart and made sure water and air were both flowing good. My truck has no headliner and little insulation anywhere.

I switched the vacuum lines on the fresh air damper, so that the heater always recirculates air instead of constantly brining in fresh air. That helped.

A bit of dynamat on the metal panels then some upholstered melamine panels for looks.

It doesn't take much to look realllly snazzy ;):D

Ram - vs - Ranger. Score a 'win' for the Ram...

Well, my 'base' rig may get torn apart a bit sooner than planned, but it'll be to see if anything is salvagable... . - It just did the 'Battle of the Gladiators' against an '04 Ford Ranger. At least mine rolls and the engine is good to go, but the Ranger is toast. No injuries, but the Ranger guy is lucky to be alive. Below is the post I started on the 1st gen thread. Hope I can still use it..... dang it all... .

Sam, sorry to hear about that. Shame to see fine 1st gens busted up like that. Good you and TJ are ok. On the brighter side maybe it won't be too hard on ya now to tear this one apart for the monster crew.

clean and green...

Well, good deal. Got the call today - the other dudes insurance company is going to hand me a check for $3100, plus another to cover the tow and storage. All things considered I'm satisfied with this, and it covers the broken stuff. At least I get to keep the rig, no screwing with the title, etc etc.

a friend of mine's crew cab got rear ended a few years back and when the insurance company went to settle they based his payment off of comparable chevy's and fords they saw in a local truck paper he wasn't happy with this initial settlement and told them to find another dodge like his (85 dually, loaded) and base it off of that. they complied and came back with a much higher settlement, a rare case where dodge other than ctd has highest net worth.

Proud New Owner

I was going to post this on a new thread, but thought I'd just include it in this thread. I'm happy to become a member of the Dodge Crew Cab club. Proud new owner of SamsRams 'cherry' 85 D350 crew 360 gas, 435 4 speed 60 rear dually. Some of you may think I was crazy to swap my 91 Dodge W250 CTD 727 3. 07's, but Sam and I both feel that it was a equal trade. So look out Midwesterner's, theres another cherry crewcab in town, I say that cause there sure isn't many of them around here. Like we've all been saying they're all out west. Well Sam was kind enough to bring this one out from California to his new home in Colorado. Now its in the Hoosier State. No immediate plans for the Cummins swap. My 89 will remain intact. It will still be my bombing toy. Heck this crew has a brand new crate 360 motor. Will be on the lookout for a wrecked 2wd 1 ton 12 valve.

thanks Sam... . I've been watching some of the government auctions on these Crew Cabs... they dont give these things away thats for sure. I'm surprised you got that one for $1300! Was it an '85? How about mileage? The two that were listed on govliquidation last week (one in MI the other in PA) went for $3600 and $2550, respectively! And add a 10% Buyers Premium on top of that! They were both non-running as well. They did show low mileage though, and both were '85s.

Well, I got tired of waiting and made the plunge... . I bought the one on the govliquidation.com website that ended yesterday. Its listed as an '84, but a VIN check shows it be a 1985. Anyway, its the usual Crew cab, short bed, 4x4, automatic. Shows only 54k, I think it could be original. Now the problem... its in California and I'm in TX! Anyway, I think I got it at a pretty good price considering what the other ones on govliquidation brought. I found somebody who will transport for $900... not too bad. I'll still be in it for less than $3000.

Anyone live in the North Cali area near French Camp (95321)? It looks to be about 50 miles South of Sacramento. I will be in Vegas for the Mopars at the Strip event next weekend..... I would pay someone to deliver it to me there.
