Hey I'm going to be in Vegas too - Bunch of us - We're staying at the Sahara - where are all y'all staying? We're hitting the Kenny Wayne Sheppard concert Sat(?) night too.

We found a condo timeshare place on the Web... . made our reservation too late and all the hotels were already getting REAL expensive! Even Best Western was like $119 for Friday and Sat. night. Got a much better deal in the condo. Can't remember the name though.

Been on the Web trying to figure out how I'm going to get that truck home... been considering seeing if I could get it to Vegas for the show and then drive it home from there buts that pretty risky! I love adverntures though

crew cab you just bought off of gov liq site

hey man i dont mean to be a bearer of bad news but the oil, transmission fluid t case n front n rear end are dry as a bone they do that for epa stuff but honestly that truck doesnt have 54,000 its more like atleast 154,000 i saw it in person and ive bought several trucks from them they usually get junk so good luck if you need any parts let me know i have a body n frame from a crew cab .

Hey I appreciate the heads up! I was not aware that they drain ALL the fluids out. The guy who took the truck in said he did not drain any of the fluids... . so if its drained I guess the military did it.

The logs show the mileage to be original... . but who knows? Its going to get a Cummins anyway! :)

What else have you gotten from them? Do you just buy the Dodges or also the Chevs/Fords? They had a couple Chevy Crew Cab 4x4's on there... . one went for $2750 I think?

Cabs now sittin' and waitin'

Well, got the cabs I need for the conversion now sitting neat and purty... just a'waiting for that fateful date with the death wheel... !

In case y'all'r wonderin' where the heck I've been, I've been working full-tilt on my 78 Ramcharger. It's coming along really nice - here's the link to the RCC site where I'm doing the build - http://ramchargercentral.com/boards/index.php?board=22;action=display;threadid=49434

Anyways, haven't forgot about y'all, just been trying to do one project at a time, and this RC has been a dream of mine for a while.

Laters!

Sam I looked over your Ramcharger build, looks great. If you put that much effort into your crew project it will turn out awesome. Keep up the great work:D.

;) Thanks Bill. A lot of the custom stuff I want to do to my diesel "Big Mack" I'm 'proving' with the Ramcharger. Air bag suspension, crossover steering, frame and cab mods - lot of little things that I first want to try on the RC before I go cut apart the Mack.

Having a lot of fun too - which is really quite a blessing.

Gas pedal swap?

For those that have already done the conversion, did you swap out the gas pedal and brake setup from your donor to the Crew? I noticed the gas pedal is slightly different between the two... the toughest part looks like they bolt to the firewall differently. If you did not swap the gas pedal and just the linkage, did it line up correctly and provide the correct travel to get WOT, etc. ?

On the brakes, i had planned to swap the booster, master cylinder, and everything over. Did y'all do that? Did you swap any of the brake lines as well? It appears there is a proportioning valve on the Diesel brakes that bolts onto the studs where the master cylinder goes.

Thanks.

I used the 84 pedals in my swap I ued the throttle cable off the 89 donor truck hooked right up to the 84 gas pedal as for master cyl. booster and all lines it's all 84 stuff

Guys, what did y'all do about the gas tank? My donor is a Club Cab and the gas tank does not seem to sit right at all. The old one wont work either because it does not have the thread on top where the electric fuel pump would go, etc.

Do I need a tank out of a regular cab??

I used the same tank on my 84 just pumped all the gas out of it and filled it with Diesel

 Can you give me the details on what you did for fuel lines, fuel gauge and such? Those are in a different location on the old tank then on the diesel tank. Will the lines stretch that far? What did you use for the pickup, float, etc. ? Did you get your gas guage to work. I swapped my entire dash over to the late model one from the diesel and the fuel guage wiring is different.

What I may do is cut the "hump" off of the diesel tank that is interfering with the cab, and epoxy the hole closed. That will lower the front part of the gas tank to the level of the original so it should fit snug then.

Here is a pic of the tank still in the frame of my '92 std cab donor. It appears to have a hump just in front of the pump unit that would interfere as you explained. I believe that I still have this tank without the pump/sender if someone really needs it.

This is the best pic that I could find of the tank in my crew. My crew had already been converted to a '92 FI Magnum engine and this is the tank that was in there when I got it. It was already set up for the screw in pump/sender so I didn't bother to change it out for the diesel tank. My best guess is that this tank came from a late model FI gas truck or ramcharger.

thanks Earl..... I plan on hitting all the local junkyards tomorrow in search of a tank like that. What I think I need is a tank out of a short bed gas motor, that had fuel injection so it has the screw-on type top for the fuel pickup, etc.

Maybe a Ramcharger will fit too? I'll scour the yards and see what I find, because if its got to be a tank out of a '92-'93 "Magnum" truck, its going to be a real hard find.

Try www.car-part.com I found a couple on there kinda near me in the $50-$150 range. Search for 92 Ram 150/250 and Ramcharger with 30-gallon "gas" tank.
