Injector Problems

12 Valve in 3rd Gen

It still in my blue 84 crew. It's one of the few pieces that is still original. What do you need? I will be at the place where the truck is on Sat. Shadrach

Oo! Awesome!

Trying to determine two things. One rear seat size. What is the length of the original seat bottom, and what is the height of the seat back?

Second is how many inches is the front of the seat bottom to the rear wall?

OK, so I have one more! ;) Third would be rear seat legroom with the front seat back all the way. To reword it, how many inches between the back of the front seat and the front of the rear seat.

Thank you SOOOOOO much dude!

Something special! :D:D

Let me give a hint. The words wrecked SRT-8, Leather, and Charger are potentially part of the equation! :D:D:D

Rear seat measurements

... . What is the length of the original seat bottom, and what is the height of the seat back?

Measuring from where the seat cushion and back rest meet it is approx 20" to the the front edge of the seat ( the "bead" ) and the same to the top of the back rest.

... . how many inches is the front of the seat bottom to the rear wall?

Measuring from the very front edge ( same spot as before) it is approx 31".

... . rear seat legroom with the front seat back all the way. To reword it, how many inches between the back of the front seat and the front of the rear seat.

With the front seat all the way back ( it is from an 82 Royal SE Club Cab - it is "thicker "than a plain truck) and again measuring from the "bead' straight out is approx 7" to the back of the front seat. I'm 5'10" and thats way too far back for me. Shadrach

You Did What ???

Well Guys after collecting parts to do my diesel swap and trying to get it done for several years now I have done something drastic. Nearly 2 years ago I parked my 84 crew cab with the intention of starting the swap that winter. Sometimes things just didn't go according to plan, at least not mine. I couldn't get into my buddies shop on his acreage that winter because his truck kept breaking down and being his source of income it took priority. There have been family issues and health problems ( my wife would say mental health :-laf :-laf but thats another story ).

So I decided to look for a decent 1st gen club cab with the CTD to "get me by". I'm picky so I couldn't find the right truck. They were either too rusty or too nice ( they hold their value if there are in good shape ) So in my search up popped a ( please don't shoot me ) 3rd gen quad cab with a dead engine. It was tempting as it was a 6 speed 4X4 long box with the Laramie package. I thought about it and how nice and comfortable it would be for a family trailer towing vehicle. I thought about all the parts and trucks I have already and how I like the 1st gens so much ( I have been driving one since 1980 ) Well I went and looked at it and for the same amount of cash I paid for the new G56 from Dodge I bought it. I'm not getting any younger and I can have this one on the road in months instead of years. Much as I hate to get rid of my 1st gens I have to face reality, the conversion plans just weren't happening. So I borrowed a trailer and truck, went and picked the 03 and brought my 84 back home.

The first thing I have to do is sell it, then put my buddies 93 CTD into my 92 club cab and sell it as well as sell lots of parts. But things are looking up. My wife is happy with this choice ( if Momma ain't happy - ain't nobody happy ) Within one day I had a customer offer to sell me a good used 03 engine from a wreck he had decided not to fix up, the Dodge dealer will take back my G56 and refund me my cash ( I have to wait til Aug after their year end ) and I have someone interested in my 84 crew cab. WOW I thing someone upstairs likes me. My buddy will buy a lot of my spare parts for his trucks as he has a 91 and a 92 Ramcharger and 2 93 W350s CTD.

The 03 has a deck on it but I can live with that for now. I cut open the oil filter and if all the filings in there were gold I would be rich. The only damage on it is the front bumper cover and I would like a big aluminum " big rig" style one anyways. Here's what it looks like.

</a>

I will continue to monitor this thread as I have a soft spot for 1st gens ( my wife says it's in my head :-laf ) and i am interested in conversions anyway.

Holy cr_p! After all the searching and planning!:--)

Wow! You were not kidding when you said a major direction change!

All said and done I think you id the right thing. I look at the dollars and time that I have into mine and it boggles my mind. Looking back I am not sure if I would do it again, at least not to the extent. With devoting 75% of my free time for 4 years, plus all the hidden costs, I think you made a choice that you will be happier with (and the family for sure!) in the long run. I know we love our first gens, but to other non first gen people, they are old, smelly, uncomfortable trucks. You have new Mercedes luxury ;) in a truck platform. What you have there I think you will be happy with.

But I do feel for you Brotha!:{

Please help I want to put a Cummins in everything. it was back in 2000 that I dropped a 93 Cummins into my 75 crew cab Power Wagon :D Then as life went she was parked. I gettin ready to get her back on the road or off road depending on my mood:-laf Then I can Drop a Cummins in my 67

Shadrach let me know about your other G56. . as I put mine in my excursion argh. . and my '92 dodge is looking for one and I have pto / hydraulic pump setup for it sitting in boxes in my basement. . argh any how maybe we can work some thing out. .

thanks

Deo

Deo The only problem with that is that "my" G56 is a 2WD model. My buddies 93 that we put the other G56 in is a W350. My crew is a D350 but I was going to use a remote NP205 so I could have 4 wheel low for parking my trailer. Although the dealership said they would take it back I was thinking of "trading" it with them for a 4WD version for my 03. Oh No! the modification plans are starting to form in my head for the 03 already :-laf Shadrach

my understanding of the 2wd and 4wd G56s is that the 2wd and 4wd are the same transmission. . just the 2wd version has trhe 2wd flange bolted the end of the trans shaft. . ie unbolt that and its the same trans as a 4wd. . I though we figured that out from your trans conversion?. . maybe it was some where else etc. . check it out.

Thanks

deo

Deo I got a panic call from the dealer the other day asking how quick could I get the 2 WD G56 back to them. Seems like a dealer in Texas needed one bad. So it went back that night and now I am waiting for my G56 4WD version to arrive.
The deal on the used 03 engine fell through so I will rebuild my old one this winter. Shadrach

Boy things sure change fast around you dude! ;)

Mind you what do I have to say. Have been having paint adhesion issues and the paint rep from the manufacturer came and finally determined it was faulty primer. That means the entire truck has to be stripped to bare metal again! And I was only 8 weeks frrom 100% completion!

Looks like I am taking the truck apart rather than finishing the assembly. :(

My Crew has been running well since I got it on the road last November. Only problems I have had are a junked battery (can't get more than 3 years out of one in this truck) and a siezed AC compressor (parts just showed up from Rock Auto).

It gets to pull the trailer again in a couple weeks when we head to Albuquerque for a week of vacation. Oo.

I have been spending the last year collecting small projects to help finish mine some day... .

Picked up ramcharger bucket seats and console to recover and install.

grab handles from a chevy for the passengers.

2nd gen shifter with the OD switch.

need to find the air leak in the aux tank plumbing. (looses power under load on that tank, fine on the flat. #@$%!)

Still need to install the PDR 190 injectors and 3200 GSK I have had for a year and a half now

Hope eveyone elses projects keep on track.

I assume the Ramcharger buckets going in the front ( I was going to put a set of Ramcharger buckets and console in the back as well as the stock 92 buckets and console in the front ). The reason I ask is I was wondering what you were going to use for risers? I hadn't figured that one out myself yet. Shadrach

Check out risers for a Dodge fullsize van. They are made for a flat floor. I'm not sure about the mounting bolt spacing, but they would look stock and you can always drill new holes if needed.
