CTD + Crew Cab - who's doin' 'em?

I was thinking either going and looking at the van risers or just building my own at the height I want. I ended up having to modify the risers for my 93 bench seat to fit the flat floor when I put the truck together. Figured I would do the same thing now, or maybe look at building a subframe to bolt to the truck to emulate the rise and angle of the "normal" cab.

Mounting is why they have been sitting in my garage for 6 months, I don't want to recover them until I get the mounts figured out and I haven't felt like doing that yet. Last thing I want is burn holes in my newly covered seats from building the brackets... ...

I did just receive my new drivers side armrest and above windshield trim from Parts.com yesterday, that should help to spruce up the interior a little once I paint them.

I made my own for the front buckets. Was pretty easy too.

I used extra 3/16ths channel I had bent up for my frame extensions to mount my bench seat... Overkill is good, I hate it when your seat wiggles around while your driving.....

Hey. What about older model Caravan risers say up to about 92. As I recall the early ones used a similar looking seat with a shorter riser. I remember some of them even had a storage drawer under the seat.

A note to those who want to keep a bench in the front of the crew. You must use the crew cab risers as not only are the risers from other cabs different, because of the angled verses flat floor, but the bolt holes in the floor are further apart. I put a split bench from an 82 Royal SE Club Cab in my 84 Crew and learned by trial and error. Shadrach

For those that have done the conversion, I just started mine today. Went and picked up a 85 d350 shorty in dallas for $700, no motor or transmission, but i didn't need one anyways, and i really wanted a long bed, but couldn't find one so, i'm using this one and making a 4wd out of it along with the cummins swap



My question is, as for wiring, which harness did you use where? I pulled all the engine and dash harness wiring out of the crew today and plan on using the wiring harness from my donor in sig for the dash and engine, but wasn't sure if that was how ya'll managed to do it or not. Also, did ya'll swap the brake booster and the heat/ac box?

When I did mine I used the 93 wiring/dash/heat/everything. I figured that the 93 was newer, had more features, and hooked up to my dash. I used the newer booster/master also (they matched the brakes on my axles).



Ok I would sum it up by saying the newer the better. Or match the dash wiring to the dash you want to use (you my want the vintage dash... . ).

no, don't really care about the vintage dash, lol, maybe i would care more if it was a 78 or something, but not an 85, I've got an 83 ramcharger and can look at its dash if i want to get nostalgic, lol.



What did you use to coat your frame? I was thinking about some POR-15 or something made by the eastwood company. And did you do any sound deadening material while you had the cab apart?

I also used everything I could off the newer trucks. Even if newer means 2004 something that I could make fit!



Sandblasted my frame in the driveway and then had is power coated for long life!

I used POR 15 on my frame, seemed to be holding up ok, though after a month or two in the NM sun it did start to fade in the light (didn't have body on yet, there is a reason the say to top coat it) Inside the cab I brushed on a couple layers of Quiet Car sound deadner (anyplace I could reach), then I glued a layer of jute mat with foil on both sides. I had a headliner that matched the 93 built at a local shop and put carpet on the floor. Overall it is pretty quiet for an old square truck. (need to adjust front doors so they seat better. )

I'm working on putting a 4bt in my old dodge, It's a 1963 Power Wagon Crewcab. I'm putting a zf-42 behind it, and it's got leather seats salvaged from a '04 ford f150.



I know the 4BT won't have quite the grunt of the 6 banger, but for the life of me I couldn't see the longer version fitting under my hood w/o major surgery on the firewall if I wanted to keep the intercooler. I think with some minor tweaks, I should be able to intercool the 4bt and get it within performance "spitting distance" of a stock 24 valve truck. I'll be happy with that, as this truck will never pull a 35' 5th wheel, maybe just a small motorcycle trailer.

Not a ton of news on my crew project, I did get some time off work and worked on my bucket seat mounts. I really just built risers and welded them to the bottom of the Ramcharger seat mounts. I also dropped the seats off for recovering at a local shop (about 200 each) and painted the console and whatnot to match the tan interior. When I get back to town the seats should be ready and I will have all the parts ready to bolt in and replace the 300K mile bench...

Can't wait to install and use them.
