I have heard from many guys that work for freightliner that dodge will go to the new mercedes benz engine and ford will start using the cummins engine. I have heard that the new dodge sprinters already have the benz diesel in them. Whats the real story on this.

The cummins isn't going anywhere but in the rams. the Spriter came from Europe as a Mercedes Sprinter, or Freightliner Sprinter. When Dodge got rid of the B-Vans they replaced it with a Mercedes Sprinter but put dodge badging on them. If you pop the hood on any Dodge Sprinter you can see the half moon cut out in the hood where the Merceds emblem was, which is now covered with a chrome bar. And also in case any one out there is interested in knowing about the CRD Liberty. It's a VM diesel engine which is an Italian company that is owned by Detroit Diesel. U. S. , German or Italian? Take your pick I guess. I pick U. S. :)

but what about the fords? are they going to go to a cummins and replace the 6. 0 stroker? I have talked with two ford dealers and they say no more 6. 0, but something new.

Well, Ford salesmen and dealers have been saying that Ford owns Cummins for years so I don't have a lot of faith that they say.

I think an admin needs to make a sticky on the top of every forum that says, "no, Ford doesn't own Cummins". :) Actually, I enjoy the question... it always puts a smile on my face... and as a previous poster, I too say "and so it begins again". :)

I don't doubt it, but at that point with the direction they have been going in the last few years whats another . 4 liters... LOL... they should have never changed from that 7. 3 it was a good engine, and the bugs were almost out of it. Oh well it's nice on top... LOL

I doubt Cummins will replace the PSD in the SuperDuty trucks, but there is a possibility the recently-developed Cummins V6 (yes, V6) will wind up in F150 pickups in a year or two. A Ford Exec was recently quoted in Motor Age (I think that was the publication) that Navistar was the leading contender but Cummins is their backup plan.

why would ford replace the 6. 0? i hope they dont b/c ever time i see those led lights on the end of the ford mirrors coming my way i get a laugh.

i did hear that they were changing to a 6. 4 and that they will be using navistar's v-6 in their f-150's and not cummins. Although at one time it looked like a real possibility that they would use cummins. From what i understand the new 6. 0l's are using the navistar computer which is make a real big d/f for the 6. 0l. time will tell! One day the 6. 0 will be a decent engine but i will always have the best engine in my 97 12V cummins :)

how many times do we need to flush before this goes away? it's like a small floater just when you think it goes down and away booom back up again! :{ :-laf
