Waiting till my trany is done FIRST

if I raced now I would have to go easy till TC lock then mash it and blow his doors :-laf

After my trany upograde I should be able to take a NAP at the finish line :D

OR maybe Not ???

If I lose I will need one of you guys to come over and earn some CTD RESPECT !!!! :-laf

I raced a 5. 0 on 91 south in Mass from a roll. We were going 60 to 100 mph, he NEVER got by me. . You should have seen the look on his girl friends face. Plus I was laugh so darn hard. . From a roll you might.

I have drag comp on 5x5 and 35/40 hybrid with dd2's He was toast!

Go for it! If you loose, well you should its a big 'ol truck, But if you win, he got smashed a Diesel!

I had a 89 LX model 5. 0 w/a 5 spd. With a K&N air cleaner and flowmaster muffs, it ran a best 14. 6 in the 1/4 at 92 mph. The 87 cobra model will probably be at least that fast. You may have to launch in 4wd to keep it close.

Just do it and have fun. Let us all know how it goes. Oo.

LOL

Yeah your right its a WIN ,WIN situation for me

It will be from a dead stop I know his is a standard I figgered it will be too my advantage Tho he said he can run triple digits in 3rd... .

At first he was all talk You dont stand a chance he said then he looked in my truck and seen my gauges then was like OH your not stock ... . yeah I am I just have gauges to keep the Big Ol' slow girl going down the road w/o burning up.

:D

I keep playing it through my head

The day of reckoning is upon us.

:-laf

I raced a 01 stang with a 347 stroker and a paxton. From rolling start to 100mph. beat him by 2 1/2 truck lengths. Sure made the gas burners wake up and smell the smoke! :-laf :D

It will be won or lost in the launch. You better figure out how to get off the line... . or hope he can't :-laf

-Scott

Well if you're waiting for the transmission to get done, might as well wait for some 150hp injectors of your choice just for a little added topend.

its an 87 right on the TOP of the motor it says 5. 0 Cobra on it from the factory. The Car dont say COBRA ON IT ... its just the motor

Im getting inectors some day but Im no sure they will be that big LOL

DM

The cobra engine from the 93 cars wasn't rated at any more horsepower than the factory gt's where. The fact that he is doing triple digits in third gear means that he has low gearing in the rear. Probably the factory 3:08's. Both my mustangs have 4:10's and are heavily modified and top out at about 65 maybe 70 at 6000rpm in third gear with a 5 spd tremec trans. But still from a dead stop I think you will be playing catch up the whole race. If you can talk him into starting at more like a 30mph or faster rolling start you would have a lot better chance. Good luck. Let us know how it goes for ya.

I agree with scott. Make sure you get a good 4x4 launch! My brother has a cayenne turbo, and he and I have played around a bit and are almost dead even in a race, but if we both wait for the light to turn green and then hit the gas he wins by a landslide. Keep in mind if you end up with a tight converter in your new transmission building boost is going to be even more important. Good luck!!

it's not a Cobra, it's got a Cobra intake on it...

I ran a 5sp fox GT w/ dart jr irons, mild cam, performer intake, full exhaust, gears, etc. from a 70 roll on the highway... now, he had two passengers, but we were dead even. that was fun ;)

Forrest <-- built a LOT of fox bodied fords in my day

So '93 was the first year of a cobra 5. 0 in a mustang... . He just bought the car maybe he dont know that that.

I still find it hard to beleave that you guys think a CTD has a chance ... LOL

I think I can get Em'

While he's heating his tires up,start bringing up your boost. Make sure you are in four wheel drive. Bring your boost up to about 10psi at final launch any more you might break something. After you launch after the 100ft shift into 2wd. You will jump him out of the hole if you launch properly.

Have a chance?? You have to be kidding!!

I have taken a few SRT10's. Not a big deal if you can get a good launch and race to 100mph.

You should make quick work of him. Just practice your launch. Like someone said, it will be lost or won there.

Let us know how it turns out.

waxed a newer ws6 trans am with an 03 6spd 6'' lift 37'' tires 4:10 gears from a rolling start of about 45-50 through 110 by about 2 truck lengths,,,,,,twice,,,, he was like wtf, then it happened again, then he wouldnt follow me anymore,,,, it is very doable , launch in 4 hi, you will kill him from 0-60, take off with boost though, i run piers twins, 40-16, ht3b-26, tst twins program, and 13'' ceramic clutch that wont last much longer... .

Stangs ,corvettes , wrx's , lightings there all the same to me unless they are heavily modified  they lose. I took out a 2004 corvettes last week all he could do was a 13. 9 while I ran a 13. 7 with a best ET of 13. 6 that night. Oo. As you can see in my signature my truck is anything but stock :D and a real blast to drive I turn a 8. 3 1/8 mile and have a 1. 84 60' time with a full 35 pluss lbs of boost launch. I get a 96 to 97. 6 trap speed most of the time but still need to work out some bugs in the trans lock up controller.
