A few people are getting this really mixed up... . After the 3/36 from DC is over you still have a remaining 2 yrs and 64,000 on the engine from cummins (which totals 5/100). They both start at the time of purchase, one just runs out before the other. The so called "second warranty" doesn't begin when the 3/36 is over, it starts at the same time.
Unfortunately (being a pessimist) I have to agree. I looked at my 2006 warranty booklet. For section
2. 2 Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty according to point "C": "The Cummins Diesel Engine Warranty begins at the end of the Basic Limited Warranty, on either of the following dates, whichever is earlier: the date your truck has been in service for more than 36 months; or the date you've put more than 36,000 on the odometer. "
OK, so that means the Cummins warranty takes over repair costs after the end of DC's 3/36.
Now jump back to point "A" under section 2. 2. "
Who is Covered? You are covered by the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty for up to
5 years or 100,000 miles on the odometer, whichever comes first. "
The key word here is "odometer. " 100,000 miles. Period.

While I wish the 8/136 warranty was true (I do approx 40k/year), it is a pipe dream, at least for the 2006 as per the warranty manual.
While everyone, including big corporations, makes mistakes, I approached this topical explosion today with some trepidation. In my mind, these warranty statements must have been cleared by the corporate attorneys before the final draft was approved (like everything else these days). I would also say that to make a mistake of that magnitude and compound that mistake by letting it continue through production for 4, 5, or 6 years without a correction would be many people's heads on the block (Dr. Z are you listening?).
With all that said, to the fellow who got reimbursed for his injection pump: More power to ya! Covered or not, he got the work paid for by DC due to his persistence.
I hate writing this... geez! I truly am an anal retentive SOB.

OK, you can crucify me now... just don't be too harsh...
