I put a single F/W filter kit in my bed on the side, I have a 40 gal. aluminum aux. tank, I pump all my fuel thru it to my main tank, so all gets filtered before it hits the factory filter, Monte

ok.. heres what I got back from ThrottleUp so far..
These kits were designed mainly for long beds. I know you can pull the fuel line out from behind the tank enough to get it on it. As far as the filters not screwing on, you can place washers between the filter bases and the mount plate on the back row only to give them a little kick down in the rear. This should allow you to screw the filters on. Let us know how it works out for you. What is the TRX4 version?

Im thinking that I will not put washers under one side of the filter base. Although it will fix the issue of filter alignment, it will induce stress into the filter base and the under side of the head of the mounting bolts.
Thinking what I may do is drill out the holes to allow for spacers to be installed at an angle and welded into place. Dunno..

Here is Wingates photo.

There certainly is a lack of room! I agree on not canting the filter. Could you swap the plumbing and filter heads?

Any way to attach it to the frame instead? (Like an AD or FASS set up) Sandwich the frame in between two chunks of plate and either bolt or weld the bracket to the inner plate?

gonna get everything disassembled and start working on it again this morning. I dont mind canting the filters, but I dont want to do it by simply adding washers between the mounting plate and filter base. I believe it will just add stress to the bolts and to the filter head due to the two surfaces not sitting flat.
First thoughts are to either use some hardened 1/8" thick washers that I have available and taper on side to put between the filter head and mounting plate and under the head of the bolts to square up the head of the bolt to the filter base.
Another thought is to oversize the holes in the mounting plate so that I can install spacers at an angle and weld the spacers in place.
Hadnt thought of tilting the entire plate by grinding the seat bolt spacers... will have to look at that.
Also going to look at possibly slotting the filter head mounting holes and try to shift the entire base assembly forward, even if I have to do something different with the supply lines.

I've seen many types of set ups for after market fuel filter(s) and might I suggest if your handy with metal or can get something fabricated like this, it's a good setup.
It was made my XX-Fuel out of, I believe Washington. But since I bought mine, it looks like they went out of business.
The unit tucks up nice with plenty of room to change out filters, yet give great clearance from the road.
It bolts from the back 2 bolts of the driver seat and there's not messing with the frame. Had it on from about 2008 and never questioned the choice.

Yeah..that's a nicely designed and built system...too bad they went out of business. IIRC, the filters also have the more common 1"-14 tpi threads which means you can use a variety of excelelnt filters on the unit.

break time!.. got the mods started. Moved the filter bases on the bracket a bunch, putting new bends in the supplied tubing and reversing the flow direction from ThrottleUps instructions seems to be the way to go. Been taking pics, will try to put them up once finished.
Have the filter base installed, and it now has plenty of room.
AnOldBiker... That looks like a very nice system, wish I could have gotten ahold of something like that..

first pic u can see how close I moved the seat bolt spacer to the new mounting holes.

Second pic shows how far I moved the filter bases forward to clear the fuel tank.

So, its possible, but there needs to be a disclaimer on their website saying this is more of a "universal" kit and not the 30 minute install they are saying. I am probably going to eventually do away with the pushlock hoses and the J tubing that came with the kit. I will install high pressure stainless braided hose from work.

Thats a LWB or Mega isnt it?

Yes the above picture is for sure a LWB or Mega cab. I actually talked to Throttle-Up Industries a couple weeks ago to ask them about these dual filter kits. They said the single and dual filter kits would bolt right up to all long-bed models from 2003-2008 (5.9's and 6.7 for 2008) and all Mega cab short-bed trucks. The only modifications required to either kit would be needed to regular short-bed trucks because of lack of space, but could be done. They are currently working on a kit for the 2009-Present 6.7 trucks that should be out by the first part of 2014. Really nice guys to deal with though! We have used the single kits on all of our work trucks for over two years now and I just received two dual kits and had no problems whatsoever installing them. Both of these were on long beds though.

Looks like a giant PITA!

It was! Had their web-site said I was going to have to do a test/research/development install on a SWB truck, I would have probably opted for something different. Especially since I paid $250.00 for something I had to re-design to make it fit!
I sent them an E-mail and included a link to this thread so they could view the pictures.

For some reason the pictures in post #52 and 53 are not showing up. It just says "attachment875xx". I see all the other pictures. Anyone else have this? I am sure they will read this in the morning and take it into consideration. They want to help guys, not hinder them.....
