Gentlemen, help me out a little if you will. Here's the story.....

I was at at the local Ag show last night when I ran across the Roadrunner manufacturing booth. This is the company that makes many of the country's hay squeezes. This is a machine that is basiclly a large forklift on a single axle truck chassis designed to load and unload hay, one harrow bed load at a time. See their site here. Their standard engine trans combination in these units is the Cummins ISL agenst a 6 speed Allison automatic.

The ISL is an 8. 8 liter common rail with a VGT and is engine brake compatible. Where else do they use this little beauty? I'd like to see it bolted to a 9 speed in a small tractor aimed at the big RV and horse trailer market. Please, somebody enlighten me :)

From the looks of Cummin's website it's marketed for motorhomes/medium trucks and small semis. Didn't see anything on the Ag side as far as where ya might find it.

The ISL is used extensively with RV Chassis MFGs such as Freightliner, Spartan, and Roadmaster. The only transmissions that I have seen available were the WTEC Allison 6 spd. and the 2k Allison.

My snowbird neighbor came home with a new MH with a ISL/Allison. It's 400hp and he claims he gets 10mpg, even pulling a small SUV toad. It has smart electronics - it learns how you like to drive. He said it has a LOT more power than his old 8VT71. Craig
