California is spreading like an unchecked cancer. The states nearest to CA are suffering the effects as we speak. The Californians are fleeing in droves (and have been for years) but when they leave many seem to forget why in just one voting cycle. I can't count how many times I've heard "when I lived in California" preface a stupid, liberal talking point espousing why we should do something that CA does wrong already.

see what you and everyone else doesnt realize is its only in cali that this happens there is an invisible line once your in cali then everything can cause cancer and birth defects this is only in cali the rest of the world is safe from these products and you dont need to worry lol.

my aunt and i got into an argument one night because she said that the charred parts of some garlic bread that was baked in an oven can cause cancer. i looked at her like she was nuts and said that was bull. she didnt like that. what i want to know is how in the heck can we know all these things cause cancer and yet me we cant find a cure? i know its more complicated then an engine but when i find the cause of the effect i then discover how it can be solved. cancer should be similar cancer is the effect of something find the cause and then you can find the cure. in the mean time dont tell me everything that you think causes cancer.

If the CHP (or CARB?) perform a roadside smog emission check and catch someone with altered or removed smog equipment they'll go berzerk with joy. Truck will be impounded and owner/driver will receive a stack of tickets, perhaps be arrested.

KA is loonyland.

I only known of one that got questioned about missing Cat on his '08 fully deleted truck (I mean everything deleted but the turbo), and was issued a fix it ticket (he was orignally pulled over for tinted front windows). He had to go through a referee smog station, and get passed (throw your stock stuff back on and do a smog test). Then go get the ticket signed off by any LEO and good to go.



Roadside inspection? Unless CARB is willing to kick down some money to set up one. It takes a lot of resources and OT for LEO to help set up the inspection. Most of the DUI check points here in California are done by LE getting grants to set one up.



I will say from what I've been reading, the OTR trucks (or any truck transporting to California) that are out of state will have to be compliant, or is a big fine to the company. It will be a big mess once 2012 comes (although I heard it got pushed back to 2014). That's not including business' in California that have to be up to snuff. Costing California big business when they relocate out of state because they cannot afford $15-$30,000 to retrofit thier older rigs to new compliants.



I also believe this is the second time CARB fined Cummins in recent years (unless this is two of the same).

Ironically, as I understand it from my old HS biology days, breathing causes cancer.



I'm no doctor, but I believe that when oxygen is reacted inside your cells to produce power (very much like a combustion reaction), the energy generation also produces what are called "free radicals". Free radicals are atoms with an upaired electron. They are highly reactive.



Anyway, these free radicals go careening through the cells doing some significant damage at the molecular level. ("Anti-oxidants" are one method used by the body to help protect against free radicals. )



One of the things that free radicals can do is cause damaged, cancerous cells to develop.



I can't wait for California to list "air" as a substance known to cause cancer.

There is no way that I would live in California! It is poorly governed, to costly to live there, to many laws and to many people. About the only thing it has going for it is the weather.
