CARB, working with U. S. EPA, discovered this most recent offense during an investigation regarding delivery of approximately 570,000 diesel engines without exhaust after treatment devices between 1998 and 2006, a violation of the Clean Air Act

Reading through these posts from CA haters who say they will never come to California,, Well, I hope you mean what you say!!, for the others who aren't just trolling, The answer to the question about your vehicle is, NO!! if you are just visiting or passing through, your vehicle doesn't have to be CARB compliant, only if you bring it into the state to register under certain conditions will it have to meet the standards.

However CA will cite you if you have modified the US EPA required equipment (as will all the other states), if you are inspected, this isn't just a California law, this applies to all states. The shellacking Cummins got was for not complying with a EPA court settlement they agreed to (federal), notice the EPA got $375. 000 of the $500. 000 fine, CA only got $125. 000 of that fine.

The biggest problem with California is - Too Many People!, if it wasn't such a great place to live, most would probably go somewhere else... ... except Texas, I can't imagine a worse place to go back to.

You have no need to worry about the excess population in KA. Companies and productive citizens have been moving out in droves for 30 years and the vast migration continues. (well, unless you count the millions of uneducated and unskilled parasite hordes occupying and taking over your state) Millions of KA residents have moved to other states including Texas and like myself, find it a pretty good place to live. We are mostly free from the disastrous detrimental rules and regulations imposed by your politburo in Sacramento and the citizenry like yourself who vote for and support them.

If you love KA and it's politics that's great. I'm happy for you. You stay there and I'll stay here and enjoy my freedom.

What you say Harvey is mostly true. Many people & business are leaving but the influx of illegals is growing & they are pulling Ca. economy down. If you don't think so ask my son who is a police officer in the Bay Area. I know we lived there 20+ years & we ain't going back !!!!!!!!

Harvey, The info causing my question was:

Does this apply to engines found in 2500/3500 series pickups? If so I am reading this to mean there is no such thing as 50 state legal without some type of cat or other pollution control device in the exhaust system.

Drew, Disregard the obvious bigoted rants from those trolls that can't stay on subject..... The subject was about the fine Cummins paid for non-compliance with the agreement they made with the EPA in relation to the "Clean Air Act", which is a federal (50 state) rule, the diesels in CA are regulated by the same clean air rules as other states, the main exception is CA recently began requiring smog checks on them, other states will follow in due time... . As to whether any of your Cummins powered trucks meets any of the specs required by the Clean Air Act, a good rule of thumb is whether it has been modified or OEM equipment has been removed or altered anyway, if your answer is "Yes", then you can't meet the 50 state laws... . However if your truck is still has all the right equipment but has become a major polluter through wear and tear and wont pass even a visual test, Well common sense should tell you it should be parked!
