Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Cummins Red Thread Sealant

What is the Red Thread Seal that Cummins uses on a lot of the bolts on our engines? I used some red loctite on my intake manifold bolts but at lease one of them is still leaking. The loctite was thin and runny, whereas the Cummins sealant looks thick and rubbery.

i don't know the specs, but the factory bolts I've removed looked like they had an RTV sealant, not loctite. Find an RTV that suits your application (fuel/oil/temp/pressure) and use that. I stick to Cummins for hard parts and gaskets, but I've never had a problem with auto parts store RTV.
