What would happen if you had the Cummins uprate kit installed, and then added an EZ? I'm asking hypothetically, I'm not going to do this. But my question is:

Would you wind up with more h. p. /TQ with the uprate and EZ than with no uprate kit and an EZ?

I'm assuming so, but I may be missing something. I'm assuming the EZ doesn't change the fuel mapping program, it just kind of adds a variable multiplier in the mix (between computer and fuel pump). If so, it should still multiply what the computer is sending with the uprate. What do you guys think? More power with the uprate and an EZ, or would the uprate be a total waste?

Speaking 5heoretically, why would you do that as opposed to a Comp, tst, blue chip or some other more comprehensive box?

hmm good question... .

Do you mean adding the Torqueus Maximus from Dodge to an ETC Engine, or possibly "something else" to the OEM DC ECM?

It may work, or you may run into the problem people get when trying to stack two CPC boxes on the CAN.

it will work. i did it on my 98. 5. had the tm on 1st when i knew no bettr[poor dollar value] i later added the puck then the ez when thepuck went t u. they worked well in combo but as i stated, the tm is a poor dollar value for whatcha get. ya get a little more timing knock with the combo. low rpm tq was great by sop feel. i never dynoed the rig. i recently sold the tm to a friend who is running an earlier bullydog box as i no longer have the 98. 5. he dynoed with the bdog box and will dyno in the future to see the results of adding the tm.

dont get a tm unless u get it reasonable. they basically add the amont of hp/tq to make a etc have same numbers as an eth. the rpm the trq hits hard at is lower which is nice

we have another tdr membr with a tm and va combo and he is happy w/ the setup. hopefullly he will see this thread and comment

What is this? DC actually provides a power enhancemet for our trucks as an option?

this is a replacement ecm that they had available for the 98. 5 and 99. they are specific to year, and transmision. was priced about 900 bucks retail cost. way overpriced for amnt of gain

Sticks, to answer your question yes. I saw it on sale last time I was at Cummins in Denver. Still pretty spendy option when you can get a major fueling box for that much $$. I think they wanted $795 for it on sale.

I don't know if I am the one muddy was thinking of but I ran a TM ECM for quite a while, maybe 30K miles or so. It was stacked with a VA and a boost module for nearly all of that time. It was also used with DD1 and DD3 injectors. It makes for super strong bottom end power and rips on the top end. I was VERY happy with the way things worked out, and the TM picked up my fuel economy a bit. The only downside was that the timing of the ECM combined with the VA made the timing hammer much like that of a stock ECM with an EZ added. A little more timing than I like but dang did it run good.

Were it not for the TM not having the idle control software to deal with a low stall TC I would NOT have taken it off. I liked it a lot.

Just thinking ... not doing.

Acoyle - I'm theorizing here. I'm not saying I'll do it. For one thing, I think I'm maxing my clutch out as it is ... and spending more money for more bombs will force me to spend even more money for a clutch. That's not something I want to do now. My question is more like this:

Would this be true?

Stock - 235 / 460: 215 / 440 at the rear tires

EZ + 275's ~ 295 / 650

This is where I'm at now. But,

Stock - 215 / 440

Cummins uprate - 255 / 625

Cummins uprate + EZ & 275's - 335 / 700+ maybe?

So my initial post is asking: If I started from the Cummins uprate power level & added an EZ & 275's (assuming the uprate kit does not change injectors - which it may I'm not sure), wouldn't I wind up with more power than starting from stock and adding an EZ & 275's? Thanks.

I think us HO owners can answer this

I think the uprate kit pretty much does for the SO the same thing the ECM does on the HOs. I know the HOs have a different compression ratio but the rest would be the same. So, I think the answer is yes: You could put fueling/timing boxes behind the uprate kit and get the extra (expensive) benefit.
