Steve,
I just read an archived thread I had started over a year ago on the idea of ladder bars. You had made comments about this idea you wanted to try..... go figure...

Good luck!

I am still quite happy with my fabritech bars. However I do see some great ideas in your solution. Too bad they were not around last year.

Regardless of what parts someone uses, our trucks really need something for wrap control due to those darn rear axle blocks in combination with all that intoxicating torque!

David

I don't mean to sound demanding but, WHEN, WHEN, WHEN! can I buy them for my truck?
Any idea on a release date yet Steve?
I have to tell you I have lots of things I want to do to my truck, but when I read about your traction bars they shot to the top of my list.

It's hard to believe it was a year ago David!! Here's the thread he was talking about - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20000414-4-000 455.html (it's about wheel hop and eventually the fabritech bars). I guess noone can say that I didn't take my time researching them #ad
!! BTW, if you look at that thread ignore the price listed there ($250 for the bars) because they have been considerably upgraded since then which has significantly impacted the costs (the ones he had at that time used 1/2" heims, no mounts, etc). Seriously, I did take a lot of time researching different options (both commercially available and custom designed and built) and planning with the manufacturer quite a bit before taking the plunge. Messing with your suspension isn't anything to be taken lightly!

85CJ - I'm hoping you guys will be able to place orders this week. I talked with the dealer that is going to sell them (and has the production prototype) on friday and they had been swamped this week but they wanted to install them asap - they told me to call back on monday. Once they have them installed I'm sure they'll be happy with them and ready to take orders. I'm as excited as you guys about you getting ahold of these - I can't wait to hear your reactions after driving your truck with them!! I'm working as fast as I can on getting them to market, believe me!

Hi Steve,
This thread is too quiet. Is there an ETA on the bars. I will be going over to a sand drag competition in Eastern Wa. the first weekend in May. I would like to show these track bars off for you. Let me know as I need to schedule someone to install them for me. My arm is in a cast at the present time, tendon reattachment.

Yeah, it's still a go. I just got off the phone with the dealer and they haven't been able to put them on yet but plan on it this week now. The pricing is going to be a bit under $500. I'm keeping my finger's crossed that they get them installed this week, I can't wait to get some of these out in your hands!

-Steve

H. O. Ram - I was going back over this thread and noticed that you have a short bed. Unforetunately I haven't found anyone yet that has a short bed that can be in the area for 3-4 days (or one day and then come back 4 days or so later). Until that happens unforetunately there won't be kits available for the short bed trucks. #ad
Anyone? You'll get a deal!

-Steve

Hi Steve, wish I was closer. You could use my truck as a first fit. #ad

I just talked with the dealer that had the prototype production set of bars - they installed them on a customers truck and loved them. I'm just waiting for a call back from the owner of the shop to finalize details and then hopefully you guys will be able to order them. For now it will be long bed trucks only still until I get a short bed into town for a day. I'll let everyone that's posted an interest in here know through email and I'll post it in the classifieds under vendor promotions when they are avaiable for order. I appreciate your patience with the amount of time it's taking to get these to market - it's the first time I've ever considered anything like this so I'm learning as I go. I wouldn't have even considered it except there was so much interest here and I wanted to help you guys out.

BTW, I've worked it out with where I only need a short bed truck in town for one day (Lansing, MI - middle of the lower peninsula). It has to be during the week and the truck needs to be here early in the morning 8-9 am. You'll have the brackets all installed at the frame and the axle when you leave and we'll ship you the bars once they come in (4-5 days to you) and you'll just have to bolt the bars in. Whoever volunteers for this will get their bars at a discounted rate. Again what I'm looking for is a short bed diesel truck, any year - 2wd or 4wd - let me know via email at stevest@voyager.net .

I got a chance to test my ladder bars at the drag strip today and they were INCREDIBLE! See the details at https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum5/HTML/001099.html - 15. 784 @ 87. 97 mph! I was able to launch at 1800 rpm and hook up where before if I would launch at 1400 rpm I would just spin (and I have more power now). I have video of one run (it was a bad run, I was trying to launch at a low rpm to see if it would be more consistent - bogged off the line), it has great shots of the ladder bars working in the burnout and launch area. I did a burnout and then launched twice getting up to the line to clean the tires off and then the real launch - on every one of them when I put the power down you can see the bed of the truck lifting away from the tires just like the real drag cars! I'm going to try to see if DavidVT can help me get the video online for you guys to see.

Also, I talked with the dealer who will be selling these bars and the owner had a family emergency last week but hopefully will be back tomorrow. I hope to be ready for you guys to order these this week.

-Steve

Would it be safe to assume that these bars would work on a '94 2500 4x4 V-10 Auto LB?
The axle wrap on it is almost as bad as my dually. Do you see any reason that I wouldn't be able to install the bars along with airbags on the dually?

Thanks, and AWESOME work!
Jerry

I got a ride in Steve's truck on Saturday and I have to tell you those bars really work! The biggest thing I noticed was that the ride is ten times better than my truck. Mine is a shortbed QC and his is a long bed QC, that is the only differance as we even have the same tires. There was none of the back and forth bucking on the concrete seams that I get. When he put the power down (and he has plenty!) it did not hop even on the expansion joints! I am a beleiver now even though I will never have the power he does. The ride quality makes them well worth having.

WOOOHOOOOO! They are finally available for order! See the ad in the classifieds section - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds. cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=862&exact_match=on&photo_size=full&query=retrieval for ordering info. They are only available for long bed trucks right now - short bed kits should be available to order within the next couple of weeks (there's a guy coming up on the 23rd to have them fitted to his truck). I'm calling them SS Ladder Bars - SS=Steve St. Laurent. We have to order these in minimum quantities of 10, so they'll be taking orders and then once we have enough together I'll get the bars to the shop and then you'll be charged and they will go out. At most it should be 3-4 weeks delivery time, once they're moving hopefully he'll be able to stock them on hand so they are always available. Thanks for all your patience guys - I can't WAIT to hear the reactions!

powder extreme - they'd definately work on the V-10. As to working along with the air bags I don't know. If you look through this thread there are pictures of the mounts at the axle, look at those and see it you could foresee any interference. Also, if you have an onboard compressor and/or air tank you may have mounted it where the front mount goes, look at that in the pics too.

I just had the brackets installed for the short bed QC. Since this was the short bed prototype, the bars have to be made to length. The Bars will arrive next week. The entire setup is very well made and thought out. All of the components are of the highest quality. For anyone with a BOMBed truck, and U-joint problems, these are a must. Overall, I could not be more pleased with the product.
