Sometimes when my truck is not warmed up yet it will kind of "cut out" or almost like gurgle especially in 1st or 2nd gear in higher RPM's. Is this a sign of air in fuel due to a return line with holes or is it my lift pump or P-pump or something else? Or is it just cold, I notice it after its been warmed up.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Mine does the same thing, also only when cold. I also get some white/gray smoke.

Acts like a miss in the engine.

It's probibally done this since new. I cant say for sure beacuse I dont normally step on it until it's warmed up.

I've replaced the return line.

Eric

PS Mine's a 98 12 valve 5 speed

My 96 did the same thing when the Timing had slipped. Right around 12 degrees it would do that... . being I didn't have the time or tools... at that point... I let it slide... it got down to 9 degrees! I reset it to 17degrees and before I parked it, I couldn't peg my EGT guage like I was before.

I have been having thinking about bumping up the timing here recently anyway. I had it done at Scheids when I first got the truck and since then have added more mods. The biggest thing that I have noticed is that it is taking longer to start than after I had iniatially had the timing moved up.

Interesting that you mention it is harder to peg your EGT's. I installed a Isspro 0-1800 Pyro when had the new turbo installed and it failed . Scheid warrantied it and gave my a 0-1500 because they had no 0-1800 in stock. Now the truck seems a to be running slightly higher temperatures, I asked them and they did not seemed concerned but it bothers me. They assume it is just a different calibration with the different gauge. Will timing help if infact I am running hotter than normal? I havent had it above 1300 or so since I installed the Snow system, but normal driving seems to be warmer than it should. What would be a good setting for my setup?

Sorry for rambling on.
