So Calif Diesel 1.65/gallon

Running a engine in heavy fog?

Help, i finally have my best friend into buying a diesel. The problem is the only one he has driven is the D-max and says that's probably what he will get. I need some ammo on why not to buy a D-max and why to buy the Cummins. These are new trucks so any info is appreciated. I can give him most of the info on the cummins from the posts but anything might help.

Thanks

Thomas

If he's into supporting the Mexican economy he should buy a Dodge ,not much is made in America anymore. :(

He should drive all three Diesel and what fits his "price" and "pleasure" he should purchase.

1. 2 injectors per hole and they cost as much as the truck when needing replacment.

2. D-Max does not come in a truck with a real front end.

3. Its not a Cummins.

4. Its still not a Cummins

5. Your better half will leave you. (at least mine would)

Hmmmmmmmm I didn't know Moraine,OHIO was in Japan. Learn something new everyday. The Chev doesn't have a real front end under it. Better run a Forum Search Dodge doesn't have much of one either. Let him buy what he wants then you won't have to feel bad if he has trouble with what he buys.

Don't think so- H1's had either 6. 2 or 6. 5 Detroits in them.

I'm going to see if I can't get a CTD test drive setup this weekend. I originally told him to drive all of them and go from there. I believe that I have scared him away from the f#$% brand. I guess I will wait and see. Thanks for the replies.

There are some strong D-max's out there. A friend of mine has one and is respectably strong. Where I have a concern is the longevity. I don't think the D-max can take the beating over time, and still be as strong as the Cummins. JMO

Well, guess what he bought. GMC 3500 SRW 8100!!! His escuse is they offered him a really good price. I almost had him talked into a diesel. Even if it was a Dmax. Maybe next time.

It's no wonder they gave him a good deal, with the price of gas these days. He'll pass everything but the gas station:D

OK, OK, I know he won't pass most CTD's, but he still won't pass a gas station driving a big block gasser!

single injector per hole on the dmax

2 injectors per hole and they cost as much as the truck when needing replacment.

from what i am hearing, the new lly dmax injectors are just a few hundred a piece... lots less than the injectors the isbe engines have...

Tell him "if aluminum heads were meant to be on a diesel, Cummins or Cat would have done it already"

Keep you PH paper handy. If PH goes up in the cooling system, heads start to disolve.

Many of the higher end high speed diesels have aluminum heads. Its a non issue. Now if you were to talk down IFS maybe I would listen.

Dmaxers are gonna find out the hard way about the fuel system though. Its gonna be big dough for a lot of guys a few years down the road. I hear chevy is handing out extended warranties if the problem warrants.
