So Dan is stepping down from his position?? Something to do with Pres. Bush huh???

I heard that there were a number of big time movie stars telling the public they will leave the country if Bush is re-elected. Have they all left yet? :-laf

Don't let the door knob hit yah :D :D

Well...it's a begining anyway

That would be nice, but there are 1000 more left leaning reporters to replace him.

I'm not saying you should be chosen for a media type job based on you political affilation, but your political preference SHOULD NOT be reflected in your reporting.

GOD, we can only HOPE! ;)

Wouldn't hold my breath tho - but it sure would be an early Christmas present to see Rather, Streisand, Redford, O'Donnell, and all their liberal mouthy followers start a convoy to some other country - Iraq would be my recommendation... ;)

WELL, one thing's for certain, regardless of what Rather ends up doing, he'll be replaced with another just like him!

The networks and other major media simply doesn't "get it" - their BS and slanted material isn't fooling as many as it used to - what they need more than new FACES, is a new integrity and attitude...

Their OLD one SUCKS!

Those networks are basically run by a bunch of snakes!

I have posted this before but it has been a while, so.

Back in the early '90s, they ran a big expose' on a grocery chain in which they showed "store employees" changing the expiration date on packages of meat. The corporation that owned the stores was big enough to fight back and sued the "news program", its anchor and the network.

In the lawsuit, they obtained discovery orders from the court for records of the news magazine and the network. The store people were able to show that the supposed grocery employees shown changing the meat packages, were in fact employees of the "news magazine" and the network both before they came in to film the expose and after; the network and news magazine had sent them to the store to get jobs just to phony up their expose'.

While the grocery chain recovered either seven or nine million bucks (can't recall now which it was), the incident was never reported by other media people, and when blather got caught with the phony national guard records, all the media people who surely knew about the prior incident all pretended that there was no history of this kind of fraud.

They all stuck together on something like this.

Heard on the radio this morning that Rather owns a condo on the lake close to Austin. They said he also has a daughter around here too. I know there has been a writeup about him before in the Smithville Times and he has been to that town.

Don't forget the outboard gas tanks on the Chevy/GMC pickups where 20/20 or 60 Minutes (can't remember which) got caught loosening fuel lines so that it would burst into flames when they staged their side impact. :(

I don't agree with media slanting of the news, but this country is still the best on the plannet. It is definataly not perfect. I only appreciated this fact when I was outside this country for short trips.

We could have the iraqi news man saying how we are beating the infidels when they are just outside you town limits bombing the hell out you.

I may get severly flamed for this but appreciate what you have, not what you don't.

"I may get severly flamed for this but appreciate what you have, not what you don't. "

What *I* appreciate most, is that with far-flung independent sources like the internet, we don't HAVE to rely on the obvious slant we are spoon-fed daily by various major media sources. Apparently many others share my view, as those same media sources frequently complain about the "bloggers" activities in successfully "spreading the word", as media viewers and circulation numbers fall dramatically!

Sadly, past history proves over and over again, that instead of cleaning up their act and choosing a path based upon true impartial and honest reporting, the media will simply switch tactics somewhat, and continue as they have been.

OH, we'll see a new face replace Rather - but the words spewing from the new guy's mouth will be from the SAME script writers!

Appreciating what you have is not inconsistent with pointing out the shortcommings of what you have and trying to bring about improvement; the biggest difference between what we have and what dictatorial systems have is the right to criticize.

LOOSENING THEM? They put spikes next to the tank to puncture it and model rocket engines to light it!
