2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Dana 70 and 80 SRW axle shafts

Anybody know if 70 and 80 axle shafts are the same???



I broke my 70 and put an 80 under it... wondering if I should keep the 70 around for spare axle shafts...



Might have to just pull em out...

NO they are the same other then the spline count dana 70 is 32 spline and dana 80 from a dodge is 35 spline.

I believe that there is a factor of width to be considered as well. The Dana 70 was in the 2500's and some Dana 80's were in the 2500's. But most 80's are dually rears and I believe they are narrower than the 70's and the 80's from the 2500's.

I have a factory Dana 80 w/ lsd in my 1996 2500 5 speed non-duelie truck. Try looking for one out of a wrecked truck. Not sure about mix and match of Dana 70 and 80 parts.
