Danner Boots

In a thread here a while back many folks said they preferred Danner boots, well so did I. Ordered a new pair of Danner Foreman, same type I've worn for years, when they arrived - Made in China! They are total junk, could do better at Wal-Mart for 30 bucks. Nowhere in there site or catalog did it say they are now made in China. Needless to say I sent them back with a nasty note. Beware if you buy Danners.

That's good info, Bill. I have always been a fan of Danners as well, guess I'll be looking at others next time around. What the heck were they thinking of, like we wouldn't notice crap from the Orient ?!?

Thanks Bill good to see you in here. My trouble with Boots is I'm real hard to fit. I wear a man's size 6-1/2. I tried the Danner in a 7 and after a few months they were too loose. I get mad at Sporting places that carry them as they don't carry Smaller sizes than 7. In Mens and most don't carry womens sizes at all... Guess they figure Women don't need BOOTS

doctor, when I looked though Danner's site www.danner.com they had plenty of women's sizes. Just check to see if the particular boot you want is still made in the US, you'd probably have to call Danner. Found the type of Danner boot I wanted at Cabelas, old stock, made in the US. I'm not as POed now.



wrward, Westco and Whites are darn good boots but too heavy for me, have a pair of half worn Whites in the closet.

I just ordered a pair of size 14 Danner 'Grouse' hunting boots - still made in the USA.

Now you go and tell me that . I have been wearing Danners for the past 10 years. The pair that I have on no is 4 years old and are on their second sole. I love my Danners!! I wish they made something in a dress boot to wear with my western duds. . Oh well I guess nothing lasts forever...

Thats funny you bring this up, I was boot shoppin' the other day. I have bought "Rocky" boots for the past 10 years, 'cause they're comfortable, waterPROOF, long lasting, no break-in time, light, and most importantly, Made In The USA. However whilst shoppin', I found the "Rocky" section, started checkin' 'em out, and low and behold... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... made in CHINA!!! Granted not ALL of they're boots were, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time and they will be.



So now it's back to square one for boots.

I just ordered the form to have WESCO do my next pair of boots. It will cost extra in the begining but I believe it will be worth it. I paid $209. . for the pair of Danners that I have on now and a custom fit boot from WESCO is only $367. . Its high, but if my feet get tired... I'm done!

Responce from Danner

Hello Bill,



I would like to inform you that we do still offer boots that are made in the

USA and if you would like I can send you a catalog that clearly states which

boots are made in the USA. I am sorry that you are not happy with the

Foreman boots being made in China. I can tell you this, we have shifted some

product to our off shores manufacturing facilities because it greatly

reduces the cost of our boots. It helps us to stay competitive in a price

driven market and the components and specs used to manufacture boots there

are NO different that they are in the United States.

I would and do, gladly pay for quality, after that, price is secondary to me. As far as being NO DIFFERANT, thats plain and simply BS. If it's boots or tools or most any other thing, I can tell visually, if it's made in one of the "cheap" countries.



The sad thing is, that they have they're prouducts made overseas to save money, but we don't see the savings.

Rob, I should have added that the Foreman boots I sent back had that artificial leather look. I didn't even have to take them out of the box to know I didn't want them. I feel it is deceptive to say a boot (or any product) is made in the US and just say nothing if it isn't. Part of the new farm bill that passed recently is going to require country of origin stickers on all produce, I feel it should be that way with all products and in big letters.

Your friend is correct. We do manufacture some of our boots overseas. We

started shifting some of our manufacturing overseas about 3 years ago. This

was in order to appeal to a broader market base, and also to follow the

trend of other footwear companies. These days over 98% of all footwear is

made overseas. This was mostly consumer driven because consumers want

affordable footwear. In shifting our manufacturing overseas, we can offer

the great high quality and craftsman ship of a Danner, but at a more

affordable price. We have had great success in this market and continue to

expand our line to wide range of customers.



However, please take note that we do still manufacture over half of our

styles right here in the USA. These items are clearly marked on our website

and also in our catalog. Any Danner boot, regardless of where it is made,

is manufactured to meet Danner's high quality standards and has the same

warranty against leaks, defects and workmanship.

I used to wear Danners, but noticed that the quality was getting progressively worse. The last pair I had started falling apart within a year and I got into a warranty haggle with Danner. Needless to say, I don't buy Danners any longer.



White's and Russell Moccassins are both made in the good old USofA. Four years running on the White's without a rebuild, three on the Russells.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Bill. I was thinking about getting a pair after all those great commits they gut on that thread too. Iopted to go for RedWings, and boy do I love them.

I loved my old Danner, but about 12 years ago my left foot started giving me trouble because of an old break, Dr. finally said only remaining treatment was surgery ;I found Whites boots (hand made in Spokane Washington), and I am still putting off that cutting! Whites are the answer for comfort (after you break them in), and durability for me. They have three price levels--Whites, Buffalo boots and Hathorn--ranging on both sides of $300.

I lucked out and was able to find the type of Danner I like made in USA, leftover old stock before the Chinese took over. I'm happy again.
