What a tough loss for the Red Sox last night. I feel your pain Boston! It was one of the most exciting Championship Series I've ever seen, it's just too bad that the wrong team won. Oh well, maybe next year. . .

Vaughn

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE WRONG TEAM WON!!!!!!

GO YANKEES, GO YANKEES

Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

For all you red sox fans :{ :{ :{ :{ need a tissue??

LOL @ Hummerchick :-laf

I think more than a few baseball fans are tired of seeing the pinstripes in the playoffs year after year, at least in these parts. Most everyone around here were rootin' on the Red Sox. If there's any Yankee fans around here they weren't admitting it :p

Vaughn

Well, I am the o-fer gopher since both of my teams (cubs and sox) lost. Oh well, there's always next year.

Don't worry guys, I think Florida is going to hand the Yankees their A$$es, in 5 games!!!

I like the Yankees but don't think they have what it takes to beat Florida!

it's just too bad that the wrong team won.

Hey Vaughn. . :p :p

Hummerchick...

Are you spoken for and if not care to relocate to Central PA with another died in wool Yankee's fan??.

TORQUE THIS. .

Keep that crap up and when its seafood cookout time watch and see how I stuff you into a lobstah pot... . :D

TORQUE THIS, Hohn, Vaughn MacKenzie and the rest of the Red Sox fans were in deep misery last nite and I feel bad for them... . NOT... LOL.

One thing is for sure,Derek Jeter said it best late last nite in the post game interview with Yankee's announcer John Sterling. . "I told Boone not to worry, this is Yankee Stadium and its October, magical things happen in this time of year here". . Kinda Poetic I think.

I will say this about the sporstwriters,it time they QUIT comparing Pedro Martinez to the greats of the past(Marichel,Koufax,Drysdale,Carlton,Gibson,Catfish Hunter). He is not even in their shadows and could never hold a candle to any of them... . Andy

p. s. -BTW,I'd bet up there the Bambino,Catfish,Billy Martin and Munson are all tossing back a cold one laughing at last nites Boston self implosion.

Bring on the Fish

Interesting observation:

I walk into the hockey rink to play a game last night as many were standing around the TV in the lobby. I asked them what’s the score and what inning is it. They say: 4-0, 4th, BoSox lead. No worries as I head to the locker room.

After my game I hear that it is the 8th and Boston is leading. "8th?" Still not worried.

I get to the bar and it’s tied. Every Boston fan is loud and obnoxious, hanging on every pitch and out. Now granted, all you BoSox fans are desperate for a ring, but the boisterous and obnoxious nature of the majority of them in contrast to the calm Yankee fans waiting for destiny to unfold (again) was quite contrasting.

I am a Jersey boy. Congrats to the Yankees and thank you, BoSox for making the championship series an exciting one. Bring on Fish.

Oo.

I'd be embarassed to be a red sux fan. Grew up in NYC and love my pinstripes. Atleast they know how to win what now 26 world series and red sux how many

HEY. . . you know good and well Yankee fans would be every bit as boisterous if the roles were reversed. The complexion of the fans of a dominant team are going to be different than those of a team who gives it their all and has their first decent chance in 14 years to make the World Series and comes up a hair short to their bitter rival.

I'm not here to knock ye Yankee fans, but many don't really understand the magnitude of disappointment thousands of other fans endure in these kinds of situations, neither can they enjoy the level of excitement of say a diehard Diamondback fan in the 2001 World Series. That's the way it is in sports. Without giants such as the Yankees the victories would not be as sweet when they come nor excitement as high as we saw in the ALCS this year. Whether or not Boston won it has been some outstanding baseball and an incredibly awesome series to say the least! Oo.

Hard to imagine a Yankee fan in this position of not being in a winning situation. I do find it quite ironic that NY teams have been the nemesis to the BoSox (i. e. Mets v. Bosox in the World Series) …. and do not think of blaming that one on Buckner.

And, yes I might be able to understand the excitement of the D-backs winning the series in 01 (similar to the Devils taking the cup in hockey as a corollary comparison. ) But, (and this is not coming as a Yankee fan)… I do think that quite a bit more Americans were rooting for the NY team in October of 01 as a result of the previous month’s events. I could think of no better way to stick it to the terrorists than to show them that here we are playing our national pastime in the very city that they tried to take down. We were showing them in one of the best ways that their action are NOT going to change who we are and what it is that we stand for. Of any years that I was rooting for the Yanks’ was that one. I really wished that they could have taken it. Not just for New York, but for all of America. But, I tip my cap to Arizona for a great series. The fact that we were playing some of the games in NY was quite the “RED, WHITE and BLUE finger” to those G. D. terrorist!

Yankees win all the time because they have the money to get there. They buy championships not win them.

Got to agree with Ndurbin on this one. But it was a great series, and I hope the Marlin's kick butt!!!:D

I'm a METS & JETS fan first

but since I was born ok hatched & raised ( by wolves ofcoarse ) in NYC I have to say

LET'S GO YANKEES LET'S GO YANKEES LET'S GO YANKEES

& as for there is alway next year , you're right there is always next year

too bad next year never comes :p

Big Apple

fkovalksi I totally agree with you on the 9-11 situation. That year I'd say more people around here were rooting for the Yankees than the D-backs for that reason. They kept their focus despite the terrible events less than 2 months before.

As much as I dislike the Yankees I really like NYC. I wish it was closer than 2800 miles from here 'cause I'd go there often. I enjoy parking the car and walking the streets and riding the subways. My last visit was Oct 12 '01 and I spent the day on lower Manhattan. People were much different, much easier to strike up a conversation with than on my previous visits ('87 and '96). I got to know a couple people on the subways who shared their 9-11 experiences and how it had impacted them. One guy was heading to his apartment in Queens, he just lost his job the day before and didn't know what he was going to do.

Not a Yankees lover here..... there was a glimmer of hope the Twins were going to the Series? We won't talk about the last team the Twins played ;)

If I may beg to differ with ndurbin and rams-n-hogs on this one. Yes, Massa' George has deep pockets. But when it's all said and done, it's still a game regardless of money. Otherwise, you are saying is that all the other teams that the Yanks' played throughout the season were not giving it thier all because they were not making as much. I think that is a bunch of crap. Yes, MLB is a business, but the players are in it for the game. Call me naive, but do belive this and the money factor that everyone yells because the Yankees are succesful is bunk.

Side note to the 9-11 comments:

I rented and watched the documentary "9-11" last night. It's about the filmaking crew documenting FDNY and filmed the events FROM THE INSIDE as it was happening. Powerful stuff. Let us never forget.

Looking forward to the game tonight, and let the better team win!

Uh, dat would be da' Yankees (in a NY accent) :D

If they do it for the love of the game, then why do they need a $399,000 minium salary? Why does Alex Rodriquez need $250 million dollars to play a game he loves? Why is it they always moan and groan about money? You said it fkovalski, it's a business now. Sure there are still players that do play the game because they love it, but it's all about where can I get the most money.

Look at the teams that are in the playoffs year in and year out. Yanks and Braves come to mind first. Why are they there? Because they have the money to go get the good players along with a good bench. Small market teams, like KC and Detroit can't have a complete team because they don't have the deep pockets.

Hmmmmm... .

Did I miss the season or was I asleep or what. seems like to me that other than Detroit, who has depleted their farm system badly,K. C was in the hunt all year and without some key injuries down the stretch would have been there. Least we not forget about Minnesota who made the playoffs in one of the most notoruios small market ares of the country.

Listen,I agree a salary cap is needed, but, blame the players unoin for that and Donald Fehr. I tire of hearing about the Yankee's payroll size and offer these two rebuttals when it is brought up and will do it here.

1-Why complain about it as the money they have to pay in luxury tax goes to the smaller market teams and with that maybe KC and Minnesota should thank them for helping them this year.

2-Salaries on the Yankee's and of other players have skyrocketed, true, but, think about it this way. If you were good at what you do, do you not feel that you are worth all you can be paid to do that job,why settle for sub standard??.

Just my . 02 worth..... Andy
