When you mount the brackets for the hooks or mount, do not loosen all the bolts on the bumper mounts at once or the bumber allignment will get all screwed up.

Also you will need an 18 mm deep socket for the hooks. Added on a 90 min. ride for me to hit the local sears store for a Craftsman set. Good luck with the guard and hooks.

Which brush guard did you buy? In an issue of TDR, John Holmes, said he bought the DC aluminum guard. I wanted to ask someone at May Madness to take a pic of it for me but never got around to it. Dee Zee has a real neat looking guard but the headlight wings are just too bulky for my taste. Wish you could take a pic of it and post it here.

Thanks for the info.
I will be working on this project tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks again.
I will post a picture later this week end.

Does anybody know of any hooks that will work with the sport package that don`t require cutting the plastic bumper???

AGAINST THE WIND:

If you have the plastic wrapped bumper that you had to cut/trim to get the tow hooks mounted, try something like this to clean it up: I used 3/16" black sprinkler tubing split down it's length and slid it over the cut section of the plastic bumper.

It looks really cool and hides the minor imperfections of my cutting.

I have a DC brush guard on my truck. If you want to see it click the link in my signature. I can offer no advice on how to mount it because I had the dealer install it prior to delievery. I would like to mount the tow hooks if somone can explain where they mount to. I really don't want to cut my bumper all up.
By the way - anyone ever done a front hitch reciever??

JR2,

Cutting the bumper was by far the easiest part of my install job. I used a Black/Decker battery powered saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade in it. I put masking tape all around the outside/finished side of the bumper where I would be cutting. Since the inside of the bumper has a very clearly defined line/ridge on where to cut, it was a simple matter to follow the line and make a smooth cut. I even had the saw on the outside, watching the blade cut from inside/underneath (safety glasses!!!. Then as noted in my above posting, I split some sprinkler tubing and slipped that over the cut portions of the bumper. Looks extremely professional.

If/when you do this, before loosening/removing all three bolts on each side of the bumper, look at the towhook hardware and where it will bolt on. The instructions says to remove all three bolts, one side at a time, but I am pretty sure that after having to readjust the bumper, I did not have to remove/loosen the bolt closest to the bumper.

Hope some of this helps.

Hal

JR2,

I suppose I should have said that I did not remove the bumper to make my cut.

It really was very easy to follow the line.

JR2 - neat picture. I'm going to order my guard tomorrow. I stopped by a Dodge dealership in Newport Oregon this weekend and saw a truck with the aluminum - aluminum guard installed. Have to say that, IMHO, the DC Mopar guard is the best I have seen.

Does the DC grill guard have tabs on it for mounting aux. lights? If so, is there only one set of tabs or two?

I would like to mount two sets of lights on it, one set driving lights and the other set fog lights.

Thanks, Sparky

My wife and I have the pictures on disk BUT neither of us know how to put the BLASTED things on the air.
I like the "new" look.
I like the way the hooks mount up, they have a pretty stout mounting plate. I cut through the plastic moulding with a dremel and then cleaned it up with a sanding disk on a 4 inch grinder. If you do it this way just be careful you don't heat it up while sanding.
The brush guard went on with the only problem is when mounting the upper bolt through the bumper and getting it started correctly into the nut inside the guard.

Sorry about the delay on the pictures, I hope to have them posted some time in the near future.
Thanks for all the info.
Chris
