Like I said earlier in this thread, I tow with DDIII's almost daily. With the Power Max Comp off, but the EZ still on, EGT's are fine, even in 95* heat pullin' Steve St. Laurent's portable hotel (35' TT) in the hills of Kentucky. This was done with my stock HX-35. The guys that say, "Don't use DDIII's when towing", obviously never tried them.
I also have electric fans, which people say, "You can't use them on a diesel", I haven't had any problems with mine, and they're not even a high CFM flowing fan, but they work great.
I also tow with a Mitchell clutch, which people said "That clutch is just for sled-pullin'", BS, I daily drive it, tow with it, and it's absolutly fine.
My point is this, the guys that say, "You can't do this... " only heard from someone else, who heard from someone else, who heard from someone else, that you can't do it. I let my gauges tell me if I can do it, or not, and they say, "Bring it on".
Like Mark said, "Unless your towin' backhoes for a living, you'll be fine with III's. " I agree, I've towed up to 20,000#'s with mine(GCVW) and haven't complained once. There's to many guys that wish they bought III's instead of II's in the first place, makes ya wonder why?
